ok im kinda comfotable tying a 2 strnd flemish string . and am wondering what i could gain out of a 3 strand other than colors .
is it better at 3 than 2 or not .
and do you wrap them the same just using 3 strands rather than 2 top string twist and wrap over .?
guess this is the right area to post this also.
thanks for any info,
Scott

yup, nothing and yup.
I think some use 3 more for an odd number bundle ie a 15 strand string.
Tying them is the same, staying in the sequence you have to pay a little more attention, but the idear is exactly the same as a 2
The loops on a 3 ply are thinner over all then a 2....

Only reason i can think of would be odd number string or color combos.
Im sure a string guru will chime in and shed some light.

I made quite a few hundred now and didn't find any difference from a two or three bundle other then the color choice so now I just add accent pc.s to give it some caractor...I'm sure others have opinions that make them better but it's much easier for me just to do a two bundle and if it's done correctly no problems...My loops stay very tight and now I pad the loops for even more caractor...If I do a 14 strand of say 6 black in one bundle and 6 tan in the other then I'll put a strand of yellow with the black and a strand of red or whatever you like with the tan to make it a 14 when complete...I try all types of color to bring out any accents the bow might have...Keefer's <")))><

If you know how to make a string, a two bundle is as round as a three. Proper back twist is th key. Otherwise, a 3 bundle will usually come out rounder.
Three bundles are more aggravating to keep even tension with, and don't offer any benefits I know of other than an extra color if you want.
If you build a 3 bundle, keep the same sequence with the twist. For instance, if you start out red, white, blue, red, white, blue, then keep that sequence, on both loops.

2 strand for me easy to build and also round if you do it right , a little more easy to get good tension and tight loops

I have made three bundle strings in the past, just to do it, and have seen a 6 bundle string, but there's no advantage that I know of.

I did make some 3 bundle strings years ago,but they were usally strings of high strand count.Like 18 strand dacron for my 83# longbow,it made a rounder string and I like the multiple colors. But have done many these days with the lower strand strings I have been using these days.
