First try at some woodies Thanks Don Stokes and Desertdude!
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:53:00 PM »
Sorry if the pic is crappy but its from my phone. First try making woodies. Just something special about woodies I think I'm hooked. Barrel tapered poplar shafts stained Red Mahogany and satin sealed. With 8" Flo Pink Wraps and 5" Pink Shields and 125 grain blunts. Thank you Don Stokes and Desertdude for the shafts and feathers! They shoot really nice! Enjoy

Nice colors! You'll see those babies all the way. The pink really shows well in the twilight hours.

That is some major helical twist you put on those! I don't think my jig will do that extreme of a twist. What did you use?

Snag,
I used a RW Helical Blitszenber (not sure of spelling) fletcher for those, started about an inch from the bottom up to the rear of the feather and made sure I made good contact and used Fletch tite glue 15 minutes per feather.

I don't know if rotating and switching the pic did something funky on photobucket but they're RW. Thank you for the kind replies everyone.

Oh yaaa! Shouldn't be too hard to find those beauties. You should name them "Pink Ladies".

You'll love those barrel tapered poplar shafts. I shot them for many years and when I had pretty much used them up switched to carbon.  Got some new ones from Mr. Stokes last year (I believe) and have yet to fletch any up.  Been saving them for a special project but I think you may have just inspired me!

I shot them for the first time today and are really impressed with those barrel tapered Poplars. They seem to group well and are very quiet. They finished with 125 grain tips between 620-630 grains.
