which wool pullover?
«

Ok should have a little xmas money to spend and was thinking about a wool pullover. I have been looking at both G Fred Asbell and Ron La Clair's. If a person could buy one to start, which one. Both look great but can't afford both. I live in Nebraska so it could be worn from 40-0 degrees. Thanks

I've got Swanndri Bushshirts, a La Clair Longhunter with hood, and a couple of GFA pullovers with hoods. They are all quality! I believe Teresa makes the Longhunter pullovers in addition to the GFA pullovers. They are very functional for bowhunting. I believe you will be happy with any of these. Now if Teresa would just make some bib overalls........

I'm just curious why someone who lives in snow would want a pull over vs some kind of zip up jacket? Seems to me everytime I put on or take off a pull over in a snow environment somwhere in the doning process I end up with snow inside. Not fun lol. I'm sure it's a great product no doubt....but I'm not sure I'd want to use it?!?! Maybe in a dry cold very little to no snow environments it would be perfect in?

Use a hooded wool pull over under your Coat for extra warmth.

Teresa Abells wool mackinaw works great, you can take off the hood and shoulder section and wear the pullover with just a hat.It fits well so you could layer underneath it or wear rain gear over it in a driving rain if that suited you.
Iam 6foot 3 and 280 lbs ,the sleeves are long enough and the body section fits well. Luke

I want one of the Asbel ones and I currently own the heavier La Clair longhunters (and hood). I wear my longhunter in weather similar to yours and absolutely love it.

I have a bunch of wool pullovers (love 'em!). Most recently, I bought a GFA Mackinaw in a Large to allow layering underneath. I tried it out this weekend in damp, breezy, 20 degree weather and by layering with a dense fleece jacket underneath, stayed warm enough to do all of my outdoor chores. The hood is a real plus and for cold weather, can't be beat!

I think they are a good deal for their price.I would like them in a Jacket or shirt style more than a pullover.I love my King of the Mountain staff.

They aren't a sponsor... but for fun you might like to look at a hooded pullover made by Swanndri of New Zealand, I think they call it a Bush Shirt. I got one of these after seeing them in use there a few years ago. They come to mid thigh and keep your butt warm. Also they make a zip up version. Very wind & water resistant too. Those kiwis like their woolies!

I have a KOM pullover and a Hidden Wolf Woolens pullover. Love both of them. I haven't tried GFreds or Ron's. But they are basically copies of what us French and Indian reenactors wear. Been around a long time.

I have one of Ron's and used it in the late elk season here in WY. It was warm and I love the longer length. I overdressed the first time I wore it not knowing just how warm it was. I plan on trying Asbels as well.

Shadman, the Day One ASAT wool is very nice and he builds in bow hunting options to the pullovers (and jackets). That being said I prefer zip ups so I have the jacket. I think the wool pullover is about $130.
