High wrist longbow?
« on: December 21, 2009, 08:46:00 PM »
I was wondering who made a 1 piece longbow with a high wrist grip? I like the way my recurve grips fit my hand, but like to shoot longbows better. If I could get some names then I can check them out better. I dont have any trad shops close so I'm going to have to do this by looking at pictures. Thanks, Roy

Lots of bowyers do, especially if your including hybrids. Check out the Centaurs, the RERs and the Mikutas.

I like the looks of the Mikuta. What is the purpose of the thumbrest? I have never shot a bow with one....Roy

The thumb rest is very techincal in nature, and is there to keep TTS (Tired Thumb Syndrome) at bay.  Simply put, however, it is a place to rest your thumb.    :knothead:

Basically it just helps position the hand in the same place each time by eliminating that floating thumb....nothing really technical about it.  Some folks love them, some don't care much for them.

I might have to play with putting a thumb rest of some sort on one of my bows to try it out. I'm not sure how I'll do it but I'll get something on one.....Roy

If there's a way you can try one of Chad’s bows do it. They really fit your hand.

Chad how's the takedown coming?
