longbow limbs and metal riser :) oh ya
« on: December 23, 2009, 07:47:00 PM »
I have been having some shoulder issues.  I had to drop my draw weight down.  I had been looking at the F/D cruve of the longbows.  it seemed to me that the not having all the preload of recuvre limbs would be jus tthe ticket for my shoulder.

I had ask Mike and Jason at Dryad bows to build me a set of longbow limbs for my ILF riser.

Yep they did.  43#@28"  61" AMO on the 17" Dalaa a 58" string gave me a 7.5" BH.  bamboo core, clear glass. these limbs are 26.5" butt to tip.  sent a 365gr AD trad lite 188fps at a 29" draw (fingers).

Very well mannered limbs.  Has that smooth top of the line longbow feel to the draw.  as for as my shoulder is concerned the limbs worked out better than I excepted.

The Dalaa and the Dryad limbs make a ncok busting pair.  I didn't have to float a bank loan to pay for them either   :)  .

Mke and Jason are going to put the limbs in their line.  I am not sure of all the details.  After the first of the year they will post the details.  I got a 50#@28" pair order to use on bigger pigs.   :) .

These were the short limbs.    the medium and long were a little faster.   I saw a 15" wooden ILF riser they have in the works. it and the short limbs would make such a dandy pop up blind bow.

I tried the limbs on several different ILF riser.  Here is one of my favorite risers.  A DAS Elite 21".  Made a 65" bow.  I screwed the limb botls in till I got 43# on my fingers and a even tiller.  Soooooo sweet.  This is my small pig kit.

I shot that combo yesterday with Rusty's riser.  Dang it is amazing.  I was shooting 1" groups at 18 yds and it was smoking.

Got a little tweeking too do but the longbow limbs will be ready for production on the 3rd of January.

If you are interested here is look a the strung and unstrung profile.  I shoot the Dalaa off the shelf and the Elite off a flipper and plunger

The Dalaa now has a little longer string on it (58").  it dropped the BH to 7.5".  Endless loop 10 strands of 452X, padded loops and padded center serving to fit nocks.  I made the same string for the Elite Kit.  You have never ever heard a quieter sting walking bow.  Yes I not only shoot longbows limbs off a metal riser but I string walk the 65" bow       :)      .

the Simmons BH arrow is a just incase arrow.  Has a steel adpator, weight tubes and weighs in at 620 grs.  Mike shot it out of the bow yesterday.  I told him it shot a bit lower.  He put his shot about 1" above the dot.  The arrow does penetrate.....just in case.

Here is almost profile shot of the bow at full draw.  I think mike, the Big Bear, was right at his 29" draw when the pic was snapped. He was only canting his bow a degree or two so the picutre is pretty valid.

There is a place some where that the short limbs are gonna be... well ah.... short.  they sure go thru 29" with no problems, this is the first string a little longer.  when I made the lighter string that lowered the BH the bow picked up 2 - 3 fps extra speed

Since the limbs are a true ILF limbs you can just let your mind go wild  :) .  We tried the limbs on a Spigarelli Evoultion barebow 23" riser.

Produces a 67" bow smooth as silk.  set the draw weight at 38# and the tiller even.  There is not a safe foam target around.   :)

I really liked shooting the Spigarelli, it has the lines of a one piece but shoots like the high tech riser that it is.  Man was I stacking arrows with that combo.

We are going to start taking orders for the limbs on Jan, 4 and will offer 3 lengths, shorts (like Rusty's), mediums (2" longer ntn) and longs (4" longer ntn).

We also can do custom lengths if you need something special.

Neat! I didn't know that Dryad would make limbs for the ILF.  I always liked the ILF phelonic/wood risers, but have never seen limbs in the weight I like.  If Dryad could make them, I might be interested again.

And while I personnally am not a fan of the metal risers, I have to admit when they are set up with a good set of limbs (i.e. bamboo cores) their performance is flawless.  Enjoy shooting it!

I'm wondering? How do you guys think those limbs would work with a 25 inch Hoyt Gold medalist Riser? This has me thinking. I have a Hoyt riser I really like but would have no idea at all what length or weight of limb to order to end up with 40 pounds at 28 inches. Hmmm.  :)

We can make them in the length and weight you want.  Rusty has a 25" riser we can test them on and I have a 23".

How long do you want the bow ntn?
