Dave, nice pic. Like I said I've got a face for radio. Lots of fun and laughs. Be sure and try to get down to PA this year for some whitetails. Between Tim and myself at the very least we would have a great time. As always an open invite. Big Ed                                   P.S. We always have plenty of Elect.Tape just in case

Guys, I have some stories myself but I have been out plowing snow and just came in after 14 hours. I believe the only reason we did not kill a bunch of bunnies was the lack of snow, none not even in the thick stuff!! I will be back tomorrow with more stories and some great memories of past hunts!! OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn

Keep it coming guys. Im trying to get all the stories edited in my head, but a lot is going on with arrangements and meetings with the VA and such.

I think the kids push was awesome. I saw one of, if not THE, biggest bunnies ever. I think the beagles were scared of it.

The highlight  of the kids hunt for me was when I noticed a bunny in "hide mode" about five feet away as we pushed the last piece. I managed to get a shooter and his guide over and watched the whole shot sequence. The young man held it together very well for his first shot at game, and I was excited to be able to be a part of that.

After that was lunch, then the hunt. I managed to get one on the first sit...and it was quite an interesting event. I think it may have been the best shot I have made with a stickbow...so far.

Hard to explain how it went down, but I think it was a magical moment for me...I will think about it and try to put it into words.

The biggest part for me was the arrow I shot for my dad, and how everyone stepped up to do it with me. I was so completely touched and honored I dared not talk on the way to the trucks because of the lump in my throat. I mean it with all of my heart when I say I have met the best people that I have had the pleasure of ever meeting at the JLMBH's, and Tradgang. I think you all helped me in ways I cant begin to describe.

Of course there was the story telling and details when I got home. I left nothing out as I explained it all...everyone's words, actions. The hunts, the kids. The raffle, the prizes. The JLMBH bow...it all was described. Then I sat down and told my mother and my wife about the arrows shot for my Dad. They both smiled, teared up, and said that dad would have loved every second of it.

I will be back at some point with some more details and stories, as I remember them and find the right words.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie,
Bro, I can't even begin to describe the pride I felt seeing you win that bow. There aren't that many guys who represent all this hunt is like you do. I'm sure everyone else feels the same; took all I had not to jump and shout in joy when Shawn handed that Bear over to ya'.
I also have to say that I was as proud of that last shot as I was of the one I made on my deer. Seeing everyones arrows soar of into the horizon...that just summed things up better than anything. Your dad would be proud...they just don't get any better than you bud.

Chuck  You can stop anytime now!!!!!  If you haven't heard the bunny hunt was a few days ago   :biglaugh:

Jamie,  Couldn't say much at the arrow launch had to large of a lump in my throat.  I was honored to be there and let an arrow loose in memory.

My favorite part of the hunt itself was when we were at Briar back mountain standing in the open freezing wind.  When I backed up I saw the kids sliding on their butt down a little hill.  The adult escort was having a ball watching. I think it was David.  Made me remember that the hunt is the Journey and the little side things that may take place along the way to make your time out enjoyable. The kill isn't the only Joy to be had a field.

I had another bad day at work with the snow and I'm still smiling!

Shawn,  I agree those bunnies were sitting tight. There were two this weekend that didn't move even after I stomped not more than a foot from them.  On the push before we all shot at the skull someone was behind me and almost had a shot at one I practically stepped on and it didn't run until it knew someone was looking at it.  I need to go have my eyes checked!

I also loved it when the kids were starting to knock down the wooden bunny disc. I think Noah Used up Izzy's memory card in the camera. He was starting to hit the wood disc every time. If only a bunny ran past him it would have been a goner.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Ya' know, I've got a little story that needs telling myself...

Many of you know Ken Mowrey (adkmountainken) from this site, who was unfortunately unable to make it up to this last bunny hunt. Back in 2008, Ken had his annual "Adirondack Attack", where a bunch of us got to stalk through one of the most beautiful spots in that 'dacks. One of the many aspects of the hunt was the signing of an absolutely massive knife by all the hunters. Ken later auctioned this off on the 2009 St. Judes auction.

Fast forward to this years bunny hunt. I had recently taken my first deer this past season, and Dave (vermonster13) told me he had a gift in honor of such an occasion. Imagine my surprise when he turned over the very same knife, signed by some of the greatest folks I've ever hunted with. I have to admit, I was simply floored. Still am.
Thanks again Dave. I can't even begin to admit how grateful I am.

You're welcome Chris. You worked hard on your shooting this summer and deserved it.

Did anyone get a pic of the Bunny Hunt quiver all signed and filled that they could post?
