Congrats on a nice hog.  Looking forward to getting back down there to try.  Going first weekend in March, hope it is a little warmer.

Yeah Ray,
the only "Global warming" going on around here is thanks to the Instant-Heat pad I slipped in my skivvies. LOL!

On the scale. I think he was actually 176...but I was looking up at an angle, and think I read it as 175.  We have them twice that big, Marty, and larger. I guess that means its medium sized, if they do come twice that big and are regularly seen.

When you coming?

That fella is 6 foot 4 inches and 260 lbs, just for reference...and you can see his hand holding the bow on the hog's back.

Well then you've got some good hog's there Ray! We don't get many 350lb boar hogs runnin around down here. They do get that big when we remove the loaf of bread hangin behind them though! And makes for much better eatin ta boot! Ya oughta try some of that cuttin- makes a dandy hog. You could sell knives made just for that!
Yep 175lb boar hog on my lease is a good one. Sounds like you've got a honeyhole there! Keep em fed up and those fella's will have a good time. Rumor has it you have a good trail dog too. Some fella's really need that- me included.

I need all the help I can get, Marty, in every way..

Come up...let somebody cook for you for a change. I'm probably not as good as you but I'll watch Food Network a lot on it in the meantime, brother.

Don't sell yourself short Ray...I still wake up in the morning thinking I'm smelling hog sausage.  Will be back as soon as I can make it work.

Does this mean Rachel Hammond will be cooking for me or will it be Paula Hammond or will it be the Barefoot hog guide? I can't wait to sample the meals.

Jack, I hope the swamp gets drier, and the temps move higher...this is about the coldest I've ever been in my life..and I've been to the Arctic Circle in October before.

The air is full of water...and the wind is blowing 25 miles an hour out fo the NW so 17 degrees feels like -17 to me.

Ray we still have time for things to dry out and warm up. I can't wait. Are you going to be in Nashville, if so we will have to tip a few as a pre-hunt thing.

I was due west of there in the north part of Georgia's southern hunting zone.  Was incredibly cold Sunday.

I was comfortable, but the problem is that the pigs and deer were too... in there beds!

All in all I spent 8 days out of 14 hunting from sun-up till about 3pm and never saw the hogs that were tilling up the ground, and never got within Black Widow distance of a deer.  But I had a blast.

I had hoped I could get a ground blind in and the weather be hospitable for my now 6 year old to come along, but we ended up still hunting the whole time trying to find them as they were moving looking for those last acorns.

Congrats to the hunter, that was cold weather for sure.

I did see some stupid turkeys fighting in about 20deg weather, actually got some footage on my digital camera.  Kinda funny to see them yard birds hammering each other as I was trying to not freeze.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Jack,

I booked a group from Indiana last year, for the week of PBS...CRAPPPPPP!!! I don't have the heart to ask them to change..wouldn't you know we'd pick the EXACT dates of the biannual gathering for a hunt trip.
