Seal skin is tough to beat. Velcro works well also.

My longbow has a shelf rest.  My recurves have a stick-on rest...Hoyt Hunter.  Simple, easily replaceable if needed, very spine friendly, and works as well with feathers as those plastic thingies 8^).  I've been using virtually the same type rest since 1967.  Works for me.

Been using Velcro. Holds up well,it's cheap enough and can be found every where.

I should have added, my longbow and other recurves are off the shelf with sealskin.

Off the shelf......with rug or sealskin.  I keep meaning to try the velcro thing, but I have to first get past my distaste for that stuff when used on clothing.....it does make a lot of sense for use on a shelf.

Setup some vanes. The feathers were shedding a bit on the whiskers and makin a bit of noise. Am anxious to try them out on some javvies!

Off the shelf and just plain jane leather piece to cover the area where arrow rests.

I think Trap rest are very forgiving, but I like to have the hand as close as possible to the arrow so I like everything that is glued on the shelf and very quiet better if it has low friction.

It depends.

I shoot my longbow off the shelf with Velcro.

I have an old Root recurve I shoot off a home made feather rest.

A few of my other recurves have NAP Flipper II rests with Velcro side plates.

My main go-to bow has a T-300 with a short plunger.
