more homade leather stuff
« on: January 09, 2010, 11:55:00 PM »
made these key chains from leather scraps. i laid them in the order i made them. the first was a deer hoof print. the second, third and forth was a deer head and rack. the hoof and 2 of the heads i made a metal stamp out of some old metal crud from the garage. not the best metal to make a stamp out of as it was really hard steal, but it's what i had. i used a dremel tool to grind the shapes into the metal. the one i didn't stain, except for the black in the middle where i had the deer head, i made a wooden stamp. was easier to make but doesn't work well, that was the only one i tooled and had it turn out decent. the pic shows up well because of the flash but it's actually hard to see in normal light, the others look better. all of them have one piece of leather folded over with a thick piece of belt leather between. i did them like this because it's impossible to tool deer hides because they are too thin and soft. now these are as neat as my quivers or armguards but i thought i'd share them anyhow. hope you all like them.... Jay

How cool are these? Way!
I can see a hunting application for those in my day pack. Maybe if I had my game ear attached to one of those I wouldn't spend all that lost time I spend trying to keep up with it. I also have a small deer bleat call that it could help me keep tabs on. Tracking that lil dude down in the bottom of my pouch can get frustrating.

Thanks for sharing with us Jay.
God bless,Mudd
