I just watched the trailer on youtube.  Looks awesome and the little bit of archery footage they showed looked great.  Has anybody else seen anything on it.

Just watched the preview. It looks like it should be a good film, similar to Gladiator which I really liked.

I can remember watching Robin Hood on TV back in the 50's. Can't remember the name of the star of it, but I believe he actually was killed from an arrow he shot into the air. At least that was the story I was given back then. The series kinda ended around that time, so not sure.

Anyone else remember that series?

Come on....show yer REAL age now!

Gonna go check that trailer. Thanks for the info.

I have a 3 disc set of 39 television series. I ran from 1955 to 1960. Its star was Richard Greene. It's so hamy it's almost funny.

Herb,

Yes that Richard Greene series from England was a bit "hamy" but each episode dealt with a hisorical aspect of life at that time in England for the "serf" or "commoner" class.  Very historically accurate based largely on what they know about Saxon law at that time.

Yes, the British actor and World War II hero Richard Greene played the Robin Hood role on TV.

I thought it was a great show...but I was only about 8-10 years old when it was on.  He died of a heart attack at age 67, and I do not know if he was a bowhunter.

Hmmmm, Russell Crowe as Robin Hood. Should be pretty good if he brings the kind of acting that he did in Gladiator. I'll definitely give it a whirl.

Wonder if Crowe will do his own shooting or if they will have a "Howard Hill" standin for him like Errol Flynn did. Maybe Crowe is practicing right now!!

I read May 10 btw. Maybe that's just the premier. Looking forward to it. There's a great Swedish Robin Hood if you ever get to see it. Uma Thurman is Maid Marian. She plays the part well

Well - good ( I hope) its got to be better than the English tv series !!!
Leave it to the English to totally mess up a good story.
If you have never seen it; he doesn't use a longbow; and he pulls the arrow back all the way before starting every conversation- it must be like  a 2 1/2 pound draw weight... and 'Robin' throws the bow off castles and into moats; and I tell ya- they must have gone through a 100 bows making that show!

I hope Crowe makes the longbow look good!

One small problem there's no one out there to match Howard Hill to this day!! The special effects teems working over time!!

That is a good point Rob, I will evan watch that avitar movie, when it comes to video. I will have to look for that swedish version. I am pretty sure that ole Russ will be the butt kickinist(??) Robin Hood ever.
Well, I gotta git back to the set and do some stand-in shooting.
