I'm with you guys!  I've got to lose 30 pounds, but it's so hard to start!
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

My kid said we should start by painting a yellow stripe around my waist so they could tell if I was walking or rolling.

Well if your serious about this, you can do something about it.  Two years ago, I had the same awakening.  If I was going to be able to continue hunting the mountains, something had to be done.

Connie and I joined Weight Watchers on line.  We learned a lot and stuck to the system.  Long story short I lost 60# and Connie got down to her marriage weight.

I have another 25 to go while working out for our Moose hunt this fall.  I know I can do it now and it's a lot easier.

If you have any questions about the system, give me a call.

I hit a low point last week...i caught myself at Wallyworld trying on a "Give up Suit"...you know....the one piece zip up cotton suit with the belt around the middle with fake brass buckle and the fish jumping on the chest? They say once you wear those ...you done gave up!

I'm not hardly too fat to hunt, but I'm going to start back in at the gym tomoorow afternoon.  Not getting any younger and like every other old fart I could stand to lose a few pounds...

I'm gonna hop on the wagon with y'all and drop some pounds this year.

Here's my idea for trad weight loss..............
go on a trad bowhunt for brown bear with 1 arrow!!!!! One way or another, you'll be thinner.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

Knew I was in trouble last summer.
Went to the beach - went swiming and when I came out,4 guys from Greenpeace kept trying to haul me back in.

I'm so fat (how fat are you?) I'm so fat I went jogging the other day and when I started to sweat I got picked up on doppler radar.

Seriously, I'm 50 pounds overweight and 50 years old and that's a bad combination for hunting public land in West Virginia. I couldn't haul my treestand up to this favorite spot I like to hunt this past fall.

I like to shoot my bow as much as I like to hunt so I decided I'm not shooting anymore until I get my weight down below 200 pounds, I weigh 220 now. I just need to make myself eat less and exercise more. It's not going to be easy but I need to do it. The Weight Watchers online thing sounds like a good idea.

I wouldnt say im fat because im 6.2 230 but this was the first year i had trouble tying my boots.

I have already dropped down to 220 since Christmas so im on my way.

Havent started exercising yet but i have cut out a lot of sugar and the carbs.

Hey Spike, try this. Go ahead and shoot, but walk 100 yards past your target then back and get your arrows then back to start. Rinse repeat.

You can still shoot but you get some exercise to boot.

In have to do that any way to retrieve the arrows that missed the target!!!! :^(

Misery loves company-hence Me, Biggie and the twins hang out alot. Joey is trying to worm his way in. When Biggie and I used to fly into remote Montana-the pilot used to use us for balast. Seriously, he made us move around- every time. Used to think it was funny, but I'm very sensative now. Ask Steve Osceola.

Hogdancer, You mean the ones where he ate 3 in 2 minutes???
I heard about that.

All this started because Uncle Gene told Joey he had a head like a pumpkin.....

those are the ones, when I got there he already had a plate of bacon AND fig perserves ready to pile on top of them.  My wife is a fantastic cook, it's a wonder I'm not pushing 300 myself.

You all are too funny.

Last year at this time I was a member of the 300 club. It was convenient, I had a built in plate and cup holder. On air planes people would opt to sit by next to others giving me plenty of room.

This year I am 1/3 the man I used to be! Still have 15 lbs to go.

Hunting wasn't any more enjoyable last season, but the areas I went in to weren't quite as far as they had been before.

I wish I could avoid this thread but alas no! I had an excuse these last couple of years with all the pain in my back but now that my surgeon has fixed that, I am without excuse.

Not only am I without excuse but now I have a couple great motivators.

I will only share one of them on here.

Last night I was talking with a new tradgang friend Rich(rjms1995) and he invited me to come to Washington and elk hunt with him.

How very cool is that? Way!!!

I've never elk hunted and had all but given up on the idea after I lost the use of one of my lungs because of a fall that caused nerve damage preventing half of my diaphragm from working.

But our bodies are wonderfully made and mine is no exception. My remaining good lung has over time accommodated/ acclimated itself to the situation. (now not so much an issue any more)

My back surgery appears to have been 100% successful.
I am for the most part pain free except for the normal stuff one experiences just because of age.

If I can get my weight under control(and I can) then this elk hunt from a physical standpoint is very doable.  Hooohaa!!

Count me in!!!!
God bless,Mudd
