You only shoot 1 arrow at each target, so if you never miss you'll only need one!!! But if you miss there is a good chance you'll loose an arrow because most targets dont have a backstop behind them. I aint never went with just one.

i usually carry 5 or 6, but i went to a shoot on the va/nc border this past summer and was out by target #9..... long story.

most shoots are set up fairly well so if you do miss one they can usually be found..

if I bring 5, I run out, if I bring 12, I never loose one, maybe 8 is the number.

depends on how good of a shot you are. i usally bring my bow with the quiver on it. it holds 4 and i rarely need more than 1 or 2.

about 10 years ago, i walked off a 3d course with no arrows left!! that was embarrasing!!

take at least 6 on the range, but bring more with you and leave in truck, if it rains you will have some dry arrows for the second round after lunch. I usually take 5 or 6 and use a side quiver (cheap tube type) I also carry a arrow digger with me, not because I have missed.. but to help the others that miss and are looking for their arrows..good luck at the shoot

Better to have em and not need em than to need em and not have em....take a bunch and enjoy the shoot!

I generally carry 6 sometimes 8.
Have never lost one,(doesn't mean I've never missed) Normally I'll end up with a feather or 2 missing do to vines or branches. So it always pays to have extras.
Generally bring 2 or 3 dozen to the shoot, but then I also shoot in different classes which require different types of arrows.

If your not confident with your shooting, leave the score card alone and scoot up till your sure of yourself. Then 5 or 6 arrows will be plenty. You dont have to keep score. Have fun with it, its great practice.   Mark

Thanks guys, As soon as I posted this I had the thought that you probably only shot once at each target and if I didn't miss..... (yeah right)

I'll bring my side quiver and keep extras in the car.....

I'll look into the TBOF shoot. Might be able to slip up that way.

Thanks again

For most shoots, I take a dozen.   For the Moses Lake Rock Shoot, I take at least two dozen.   I'm getting to be a better shot.  Last year I only lost two (one lost, one bent, actually)...   But I'll still take 'em all... could have a bad day.   8^)

Out here, most of our trad shoots are pretty loose.  You shoot all you want, whenever you want and over two or three days, I'll usually shoot at least six rounds, sometimes eight.  My standard for a good shoot is if I can't wave my arms and can barely walk when it's done.  Sure ain't gonna drive a ways, set up a camp and have any chance of running out.

I take 3 that way I really have to concentrate on my shots. I usually use my stumping arrows too.   :bigsmyl:

Brad,

Try and make the TBOF shoot. I'll be there from early Friday till it ends on Sunday.
Look forward to meeting you!

I'll have a table there for PBS, trying to increase the Florida membership numbers.

Typically, I use my backquiver with a dozen arrows and carry my bow without one (this could vary towards fall). This gives me plenty for arrows for warm-up on practice butts. Also, the backquiver makes a good depository for found arrows and for friends’ arrows that get injured, which usually take a trip to my house, anyhow.

Without the backquiver option, I’d go along with carryin’ a half dozen and keepin’ spares in your vehicle. Have Fun, Rick.

LOL,  I remember when my sole goal was to come home with a few of the arrows that I took to a shoot!  Take a dozen and carry half that.  They ain't cheap, but they make them every day!

I take 3 for each bow while on the range.I usually carry more for the practice butts to cut down on waiting to pull arrows.I carry 3 because sometimes we have muliple shots from the same stake.Except for that I only use one arrow when shooting a course.I seldom lose or break an arrow unless shooting a toughman course but you never know so I will always carry at least two on any range. :)
