Same coloured fletches for all the fletches
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:17:00 PM »
Might be a weird question. I have always (maybe cause of tradition) but I have always used a cock feather of a barred type. Problem is my eye catches it spinning and looks like it's wobbling.

Do many of you just use the same colour. I am going to try four fletch.

Next question is colour - wraps and feathers.

I am going to try flour green/lime for both to see how they pick up in the shade of day that is a bit darker. I used to use white with barred cock and they seem to disappear plus looks like it's wobbling.

I use all of the same colors but I am currently using three fletch. I want to try four fletch when I actually get a fletching jig though. Never used green. All of my arra's are orange or orange and white. They're extremely bright, and my favorite color.

I use the same color most of the time (white) I like to be able to see my arrow in low light while hunting. It helps me know where I hit the animal.LCH

Just made up a doz with bright yellow wraps and chartruse 3 fletch. I put a small black mark on cock feather just for reference. I'll post some pics tonight if I remember.

The last doz I made were all white 3 fletch but spliced the end of the cock feather with a red fletch.

I do it sometimes, 3 barred or 3 same color.  The colored cock feather never seemed to be that much of a help to nock an arrow.

Personally I have trouble finding arrows with green fletch. I prefer Pink, orange and yellow for visibility jmo.

I have been playing with colors, and did a couple of arrows, usually 3 fletch, of the same color, purple feather on a purple cap color, I did a white feather 3 fletch on a red cap color.

That being said I use the index nocks and let my fingers do the nocking without having to look.

Mike

I have some chartruse caps with natural barred turkey that I like real well, all three the same.

I have to shoot the same color on all of the  feathers, my eye picks up the odd ball cock too. Looks like it's wobbling, even though I know it's not.
For years I have shot nothing, but 4 fletch.
Chartreuse is a fine color till you shoot it in the grass, or go turkey hunting without a blind.
Use a nock with an index, and color doesn't matter. Just feel your arrow onto the string.
I never have to look at my string to nock an arrow.

Depends on what feathers I have on hand but I often use the same color.I like index style nocks for hunting for nocking an arrow in the dark anyway so color is never a problem.

Those look great Terry. That is about what I use, flo yellow wraps, lime feathers and flo nocks. They glow right at dark and at daylight, and blood shows up great on them. Only other color I use is white on white with flo green nocks. I can see these hit the side of a deer better than any other colors, have tried them all over the years.

I like to use orange also. Although those are some nice lookin' arrows you got there Terry. I also like a 1/4" strip of rabbit fur inbetween the nock and the feathers. When it hits the fur puffs out and gives a good look on where it hit. Doesn't seem to bother arrow flight.

All the same color, I feel for the index bump on my nocks for alignment when putting the arrow on the string.

I use four pinks, white wrap, and white or pink nocks. They are easy to "see", but are not quite as bright as Terry's!        :)

I use flow yellow/Chartruse and ALWAYS fletch with 3 -4" parabolic feathers of the same color . Ocassionally I use another color but always go back to my favorite.

I use nocks that I can index so when a feather starts to wear I can rotate another in towards the shelf.
