Jim-bo Longbow, Pics added 70" 55# RH
« on: January 15, 2010, 08:15:00 PM »
I picked up a mint Jim-bo longbow today. A RH 70" 55# with serial #479. It has been stored for years as it was a Christmas gift to a man by his wife and he passed away shortly after. I see Charles Willeford passed away in 2006 and was quite a man and bowyer. Any info on the years he crafted bows or serial number sequence is welcome..Roy

I checked the "watch this item" box on **** when I saw a Jim-bo listed then forgot to go back and check. It sold way down the line. I was kinda sad I missed out on that one. If I had been the "winner" I would have had something to post on the thread I saw here earlier (about getting a deal/steal on a great bow)-(my paraphrase).
How about posting a picture? I might as well ask, is that where you found it?
Congratulations! either way.
God bless,Mudd

I meet Charles several times at the TBOF shoot in Florida. He would build bows and sell them at the shoot. He always said, he built a working man's bow. They were very resonably priced around 250.00 new. He once built me a takedown with bamboo and osage, it was a beautiful bow.

Charles was also a champion skeet shooter. He told me that he had a son, But I don't think his son continued buildng any of his bows.

I bought a 66" Jim Bo this past spring.  It is also Osage.  Mine is also 55@28 and draws very smooth.  I am glad to know who the builder is now.
