Great gathering!!
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:33:00 PM »
I would like to thank DVSHUNTER for being the host to a great gathering today. I think there were around 12 of us in attendance.
Some yellow shaving and dust were made by the more industrious attendees. More than a couple of arrows were flung. I may have been guilty of hogging the target. Sorry guys and Lady!!! Ye, I forgot to add
DVSHUNTERs' sister was there too so that moves the count up by one to 13.(that wasn't an unlucky number today)

We had a snack plus some awesome "wild turkey"(non alcoholic variety) chili.

DVSHUNTER Please tell your mom I "heard" those were terrific cookies too!! hahaha!!  I will fess up if I have to...

I would also like to add.. the worse part of the entire day was being introduced to Dave's MOAB and then trying to get my hand to let go of it.(nope, no laughter behind this one) That bow was the cat's meow! I have several other bows I'd trade for one just like his. I had to ask him if he had put it on the scales because I thought it had been miss-marked. It didn't come near feeling like it was the weight written on the bow.

Anyway, thank you again and thank all the others who came out. I'd do it again in a heart beat.
 God bless,Mudd

thanks to all who came. I has a good time too. I put up a few pics in the bowyers bench. Not the best pics. I did finally get a string on the bow I am working on. One day I will get it finished.

I want to do a little... alright! it's braggin..lol I proved that not only can the "Avitar" release be made, it can be done effectively.
I had to use one of Gray Buffalo's lefty bows to successfully pull it off but after a couple of awkward attempts it started to come together. Not nearly the groups that almost every other shooter had but respectable.. well almost!

I guarantee you that I wouldn't even think about posting this if I hadn't had witnesses...lol

We had "the newbie" of all newbies there today. I'm so thankful that my long time friend Kenny "Cobweb" Jackson made the trip with me. Kenny has less than a couple of months under his belt with any kind of bow.

It was years ago when I 1st began trying to make a stick you could put a string on and fling arrows. After a few successes I took one of my best trys and gifted it to "Cobweb" in an attempt to entice him into archery. He promptly hung in a place of honor over the head of his bed and there it hung until he retired this fall. I saw his retirement as an opportunity to try again to start a fire in him.
I gave him a another bow(a real bow this time), a quiver and a few arrows. That seems to have helped some but today's outing at DVSDHUNTERs had him ecstatic. I think it took!!!
Sorry for being so verbose ... but I couldn't think of how to paint the "word picture" without a 1,000 words.
Thanks for your time.
God bless,Mudd
