Lost my brother
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:53:00 PM »
I lost my brother a few days ago. We laid him to rest today. He suffered long and hard for the last several years but fell a sleep in his chair one last time to slip from this life to walk the green valleys that I know he longed to see.  He found his lord and saviour before his passing and for this we are happy.  I was a duck hunter and he is the one that got me into deer hunting many years ago. I am now 57 but when I was around 16 he gave me a 40lb Pearson Spoiler and told me to never sell it. At the time I never really learned how to shoot it and never killed anything with it, but it still hangs on its pegs never to be sold as I had promised. After those earlier days he chose the gun and I chose the traditonal way. We still always had something to talk about even though we were at different ends of the spectrum.  He was always especially proud of me when I killed a deer or a hog with my traditional equipment. These things I will miss and I know it will get better as time creeps on but I am also saddened by the fact that we did not spend as much time together as we should have. Sorry for going on and on but time is shorter than we realize and we really need to make the most of it while we can.

Prayers too. You have put in writing something special that few have the ability to do.

Praying you and yours can find the peace and comfort the Lord can provide.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.
14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.
