Being a Grandpa is great.
At 45 I have 3 Grandkids with #4 due in May. My bride of the past 26 years and I started our family at a time considered early by most and so did our kids.

The advantage is we will be young enough to almost keep up when they start running the hills.

Congratulations.. 12 years ago when we were expecting our first, a fellow bow hunter told me "If I'd a know grand kids were so good, I would have had them first"

congrats - my girls two girls are split - the older wants kids but the yuonger one dosen't (so far anyway).

they have time they are only 25 and 28 and my son...well maybe he will have some someday.

My daughter went with on a Canadian canoe trip when she was 8 months along. She handled it quite well, I however, couldn't sleep until we hit a base camp. the son in law was not prepared for how tough canoe tripping really was.  Our grandson now 3and a 1/2 will make a fine canoest, classic guitarist bowhunter someday, hopefully, if he wants.  It will be an adventure.

 I am teetering at the edge of 'great grampa zone'.. I have a grandson in college.
 My granddaughter is driving a car and has promised not to date until she is 35.    :saywhat:  

 The 3 others are boys; and shooting bows already.

If I had to do it over again; I would have the grandchildren first  :)

Thanks everyone for the congratulations and condolences. This has made me do a lot of reminiscing. I am so very proud of Marijane. WE spend a lot of time sharpening each other as steel sharpens steel, I just hope she's never questioned my love for her.

If the boys ever wanted a shooting lesson, she'd give it to them. bow or gun it didn't matter. I complained to her a week or so ago while she was trying to shoot my Big 5. I didn't want to lose any arrows just because she thought it looked cool. I told her they put those other dots on the target for folks just like her...lol
