Dirty Judos
« on: January 19, 2010, 04:09:00 AM »
Always when out stumping, after a miss or a cmpleted shot at a molehill or the like there is dirt sitting around the springs on the Judo point. I dont know if this affects arrow flight, but shouldnt it? At least its some extra grains and some change in aerodynamics. I have not found a method to get rid of this mud fast, only fumbling and getting dirty fingers. Just wondering if others have the same problems and maybe a solution.

Regards

Yep...if it bothers you though, it's gonna affect your shot because it's a detrement in your mind. Since instinctive shooting demands a clear mind, it's like when you are thinking, "don't hit that limb" you're gonna hit that limb everytime. If you're wondering if that dirt is gonna affect your shot, you're not concentrating on "the spot"
You can stick and old toothbrush in your pocket.

I just whack them on the sole of my boot to knock off most of the dirt then keep on shooting.

that toothbrush is a great idea biggie!

Though it doesnt affect my mind to much,to be honest, my big advantage in archery is that my minds pretty empty all day     ;)

was just wondering because the chnage of say 125-145 point weight can make a difference and 20 grains is abit more than 1,3 gramm, still i dont know how a gramm of dirt looks like and if its so much on the judo.

Good answers above. Now let me clear your mind.........

NO it shouldn't change your flight if you knock the majority Of clutter off. If your set up can't handle a 20 grain variance in either direction then it's too boarderline!!!

There,.....now you can rest easy and just shoot      :campfire:    .

I'm more concerned about getting dirt in my quiver and dulling broadheads.

If you want to get a discharge (co2) for muzzle loaders(Cabelas) and use that to get rid of the dirt. It's smaller than the cans of air for dusting and it has tons of air pressure.

I use a combination of dirty fingers and the toe of my boot.A patch of grass will save you from carrying a toothbrush in your quiver though.

Just knock it off on a tree trunk, rock, boot sole..pull out any grass with your hands...and have at it....

No need to carry anything extra just to clean judos....

Boot toe here. When done shooting, I'll really clean em off. But in 'the field' I just tap em and most falls right off.

Whip it in a clump of weeds or grass to clean them up.  It they are real bad, tap them against a boot or heavy branch first.
