BTH - that is prolly one of the best comments i have ever read - your gonna inflate my ego!!!! :D
Truely tho - the best speed i have gotten has been 212fps on a 8ggp at i believe the sidewinder was 55#. That was at a 28" draw - finger release. BUT it was also made with a boo core and maple veneers and had a slightly pronounced recuve then the normal models. I cut some of the recurve as the bow was fast, stable and smooth, but arrow tuning seemed to make the testers say the bow was a typical shortbow and hard to shoot. Not the case - the bow wants an arrow it likes.....
I recently tested a 55 pound sidewinder with 14ggp and got 158 fps, the arrow was rock sold and sunk into the 30 yard target to the nock.
Currently the best combo i have found is the boo core with maple veneers, i have supercharged the bow design and tested at 30 to 32" draw at 7ggp, they get REAL touchy and hard to tune BUT once tuned - holy cow!!!
Currently i am experimenting with thicker tips that are 3/8" wide and string bridges, the bow is starting to really spit an arrow. I have cut the experimentals to 53 and 55 inches strung and drawing 31". I have broken 212fps on these bows, the test bow is rock solid and going through testing like a champ. I am staying away from carbon for now as i still want to keep prices down....
i am playing with diamondback and cobra skins with claro walnut (oregon black figured walnut) in this short configuration. But the project is slow as i have other things needing to get done.
