Morrison Bow Shooters
« on: January 20, 2010, 03:44:00 PM »
I own several Morrison's and prefer the Shawnee with longbow limbs made with Foam and Carbon.  Those who shoot Morrison's Bows I have several questions.  Do you prefer the Shawnee, Cheyenne, or ILF., and what limbs do you prefer Longbow or Recurve.  I will stick with the Carbon/glass foam limbs.   Thank you in advance.
Bowhunting is not just a way of life, it is also fun.

My favorite: Cheyenne recurve with carbon/foam limbs I have a 54" and a 56" model they are  real fast, dead quiet, and easy to shoot accuracy wise. ILF and Shawnee are both nice also and the Cheyenne long bow limbs are very nice.

I have Shawnee and Cheyenne recurves of the same poundage.  I'd guess (untested) the Shawnee may be a few fps faster due to the more reflexed riser design.  IMO, it is also slightly less forgiving than the Cheyenne for the same reason.

I have three Shawnees. They are my favorites and I prefer the carbon foam longbow limbs. The bamboo cores are very smooth too. I have a set of Arapaho recurve limbs but haven't shot them but one time so far. The recurve limbs seemed to shoot well, but for now I prefer the longbow limbs.

I've got one of each & while I love the speed of the carbon/foam limbs on my Shawnee I find the wood-limbed Cheyenne just fits me right. The ILF is nice, but physically a bit on the heavy side. If I was forced at gun-point to choose only one, I'd go with the Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Longbow, either the foam or the actionboo limbs.
I have three Cheyenne's and I'm looking at either a Mini 14 or another set of limbs.

I have had the pleasure of owning quite a few Shawnees and Cheyennes with both longbow and recurve limbs in foam,bamboo,foam/carbon.
Thier is definatly a loyal following for both models

I am currantly shooting a Cheyenne with carbon/foam longbow limbs.I love it.Its a very smooth shooting, quiet, quick and accurate combination.I like the feel of the carbon/foam longbow limbs personally over just foam. Its all good though whether its bamboo, foam or carbon/foam for me.

I  think I personally prefer the deflexed riser on the cheyenne. Its very stable, accurate and easy to point and shoot.

I've had a Cheyenne recurve and currently have a Shawnee with recurve limbs.  I had longbow limbs for it before.  I really like my Shawnee, but want to get my hands on a Cheyenne again.

Gotta say Shawnee w/recurve foam limbs. Got some Dakota foam/carbon limbs on the way so I might change that in about a week. But for now, this is my go to bow!

I have some Shawnees with the foam/carbon longbow limbs, some Cheyennes with boo recurve limbs and some with foam recurve limbs, and an ILF with the foam/carbon longbow limbs. I like all of them, but prefer foam core limbs over the boo core limbs. I like the carbon too. I plan to get some foam/carbon longbow limbs for one of my Cheyennes, but my Mini-14 ILF riser is very similar in feel to the Cheyenne riser and I already have the foam/carbon longbow limbs for it. I understand that the foam/carbon recurve limbs are nice too, but I don't have any of them either. You will be happy with a Morrison, but one may make you happier than the others. I would suggest getting the foam/carbon limbs. You pay more but get better performance and a very smooth, consistent feel. Bob builds an outstanding bow and is a terrific guy to boot.

Shawnee w/carbon foams also with the uni-weft.  Makes for an excellent shooting limb.  But I do like the Arapaho foam cores too for my Shawnees...

I have a few of Bob's Bows, and as everyone has stated, they are all Excellent Bows.  My favorite, and the one I shoot the best is my Shawnee with boo Dakota "C" length 56#LB limbs. [with a set of 59# "B"s as back-ups]

I also have a Cheyenne and a earlier T/D recurve, both with Boo "C" lenght recurve limbs.  I have had foam core/glass recurve limbs and a set of C/F Dakota L/B limbs for the Cheyenne...I just really prefer the bamboo..

The 62" 62# [early, but also takes Cheyenne limbs] T/D recurve is the fastest bow I own and very smooth. Just a bit more wt. than I prefer to shoot for extended periods.

Forgot to say I recently got 207 fps @10gpp from that short set of Shawnee Dakota 59# bamboo limbs      :archer:

Plenty good enough for me  :jumper:
