Looking for a new tent
«
on:

I'm looking for a canvas tent. Leaning toward a single pole, like Primitive Panther Humnter. or a Herder Tent like the ones made by Davis Tent.
Any suggestions or comments welcome.
Mostly will be alone, but want one big enough in case a couple friends want to join. Want a stove jack, extra window or door, and belive it or not an opening to add an a/c for the summer, at some of the bigger shoots.
Help me out. Am open to other styles, too.
Thanks, JAG/Johnny

I'm going to be ordering the hunter pyramid tent by Panther primitives this spring. I'm still not sure if I want a 12x12, or the 10x10. I have a small wedge tent now that I figure the kids acan use in the summer, and for a couple hunting trips the pyramid will work nicely.

As Dick mentioned, I can help with a Panther tent. PM's sent to JAG and Autumnarcher.
mountainman's comment about getting one a little bigger than you think you need is a good one. I moved up on my own personal tent last year and really like the extra room. Another way to increase usable floor space is with the Tall Boy model. Same tent, just taller, which increases the angle of the walls so that you can get your cot and gear a little closer to the side.

I would also look at Montana Canvas. I have a 12 x 12 Alanak that they made for Cabela's 10+ years ago and love it. Cabela's now has this tent made in China now these are a very cheap copy.

I always go to the Colemans Military surplus site they have canvas tents in all sizes and I have used them in the Marines and they are as good as any other at half the price.
