Gemsbok horn for riser backing on recurve??
« on: January 26, 2010, 04:31:00 PM »
I'm considering having a TD recurve riser backed with Gemsbok horn. The riser and tips are gaboon ebony(black) and the limbs are amberboo. Has anyone out there used or seen gemsbok horn on a bow before? My bud (Ric O'Shay)has a Wesley Special with Cape Buffalo horn that looks great. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.  :help:

If you got the right peice it would make really nice finger groves. I have seen a few knive handles like that. I have never seen it on a riser though. You better put up some pics when you get it.

Bill, I sent you a couple of pictures of a bow with the Gemsbok horn overlays.  I think they would look really cool on your bow and dress it up nicely!

I have a 2pc LB on order from Big Jim's that will have Gemsbok Riser overlay's. I believe there is a pic of one on Big Jim's temp Website. He's in the Sponsor dropdown list above.

Got the pictures "Whip". Sent you a response. For those of you who did not know, our very own "Whip" recently took over Jim Belchers "Bow Hospital". He is the man that I chose to give my Massie Model "M" take down recurve a face lift. Joe comes highly recommended by Jim Belcher. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product and you can bet I'll be sharing it on this site.
