Browning Challenge Recurve
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:01:00 PM »
Hello all, looking for information on this recurve. I know its a target bow, 68" , #44. Looks like it has non factory holes drilled for a quiver. Like to know what it is worth. Also is it a good target bow?

ariser - Depending on condition, I've seen nice ones go for anywhere from $250 to $350.  I think it depends on market and demand at any given time.  To answer your second question - the Browning Challenge is better than a "good" target bow.  Is there any stress in the limbs?  Any chance you can post a pic?

ariser,  Browning didn't make bows that didn't shoot well.    ;)    Of course it's up to the shooter as to how well.  The Challenge was their top of the line, equal to the Bear Tamerlane, Hoyt Pro Medalist, etc.  It was/is a first line shooter.

It's worth what someone pays for it, since the target bows other than Bear haven't had a lot of takers as far as collecting goes.  That's a pretty fair weight for the target bows and that's a tad unusual.  Just throwing a price range out there, I would suggest maybe $150.00 to $250.00, depending on condition.

It will drive nails as far as accuracy goes.

Hello Hot Hap, Ron Bushong and George D. Stout. I am now the proud owner of this bow. It is in very good overall condition. Coming with original browning soft case, and Browning factory sights still in their box. A couple of little issues The real Bow Doc is going to advise me on. No limb twist or stress lines or anything of any issue. I will add pictures soon. Thanks for your interest.
