L.E. - I've used my BOA quiver on the skinned limbs many times without any adverse effect. I would be cautious though and let your finish cure for a long while first.
My finish is tru-oil. These are up to about 20 coats on the skin side now. Not that you would have to go that extreme, but I like the look it gives to the feathered edges and fully filling in the scale pockets etc. I recently put a few more coats on, then did a satin poly over the whole works. Looks great and so far so good. One coat a day with light light sand or 0000 wool for a week or two and you feel like a pro.
The real nice part about the tru-oil is being able to touch-up or fill in a scratch or rub without refinishing a large section of bow.
