waterfall bubinga veneers
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:16:00 PM »
I am thinking about some limbs in waterfall bubinga.  If you have a bow like that I would love to see some wood combo's.

If you look at my thread called Zipper's show bows for Kalamazoo. You will see some bubinga pomolle veneers and one riser waterfall bubina in it.We also have some on our website under "Riser wood Examples".They may give you some ideas.I realy like bubinga it is very strong and easy on the eyes.It is also not to oily so it is pretty easy to work in that respect, but it is very hard.Did I mention it was hard?  :D

A buddy of mine had a Blacktail built with a footed waterfall bubinga riser and waterfall bubinga limb veneers, beautiful to say the least. He messed up and sold it to someone here on TradGang awhile back. I bet it still haunts him at night!

A word of advice, it seems tricky to get a piece with enough figuring to look good in a limb veneer, so be sure to look the piece over real well before you give it the okay. I've seen several that were lackluster.

I made this bow with bubinga riser and black glass. Limbs are bamboo with water fall bubinga veneers. Mike

I have some Mottled Bubinga this piece is 4 1/2 inches wide, I plan to use this for veneers, I also have some Curly Bubinga haven't taken any pics of it yet. I think both are gonna look good under clear glass.

Thanks Mike.  Those look great.  I will check out the bow at the show. I can hardly wait.  Should be a lot of fun again this year.
