Bill Kissner mentioned something like this on a thread once....for some reason it popped into my head today...

Nothing scientific at all, and I know it's not a real critter...but like I said, interesting....

Best to do this over a big sink or better yet a bath tub...

Get two zip-lock bags and fill them with water(I used sandwich sized bags, but anything as big or bigger will be fine) as close to the same amount as you can.....

Now, here's what I did....I got a Zwickey Eskimo 2bl. and a 3 bl. 160 Snuffer, and an old wood shaft to just stick them on the taper, no glue so I could switch them....

I held one of the bags on the top by the zip-lok and stabbed the bag low, close to the bottom... in one side, out the other...then quickly pulled it back out...water poured out pretty fast....

Popped off the Zwickey, and pushed on the Snuffer...

Then I held up the second bag, and plunged the Snuffer in and thru...the water literally exploded out of the holes! That's why I say now a bath tub might be better!   I mean so fast the the bag collapsed on itself before I could even get the bh back out!

Like I said, nowhere near scientific. Not a real animal with skin, muscle, and bone......but......

Try it with whatever bh's you have, I think you'll be impressed by how quick a big multi blade will empty the bag.

Take from it what you want...

The 2-blade guys will say the snuffer should only be pushed through one side of the bag. Lack of penetration you know....

Oh yea! I like three blades also! for many reasons but a big hole was the selling point!

I was just wondering what broadhead I should use next zip-lock season.

Seriously, I was/am considering a multi for deer. I'll stick with my Grizzly for elk though...

The only down side to a Snuffer, seems to be they leave enough of a blood trail to cause a slip and fall. And yes I did.

Curt you know to make this more realistic you need to add red food coloring!   :D
Then you'd better do it over the tub, don't want anyone getting in more trouble!

Other thoughts.... just like a body cavity, the higher you hit the less the blood comes out unless it lies sideways.  Poke the broadhead half way up much of the water drains, poke the broadhead one third up and a bunch more comes out.  Both hits may still hit lung, but the blood trail might differ even with the same style broadhead. poke one side of the bag and see the results.  Two holes vs. one.  I understand... dead is dead but I love a good blood trail.  Good stuff Curt.

They better tell that to some of the deer I've killed with my 160's.

Better yet shoot a balloon with a 2 blade then a 3 blade.  The air will rush out much faster with a 3 blade   :knothead:

joebuck

I am Sorry but.......I would Still take the 2 blade over 3 blade because it will get sharper than any 3 blade. IMO 3 blades that fail to penetrate are a result of inadequate sharpening.
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.
