Hey, Im Cameron and I am making my first bow, a red oak board bow. Its going OK I guess but I know that the limbs are very weak at the ends so I will have to weaken it more on the inner part. This forum looks like a good forum. Some people at Ojam, Oklahoma traditional bowyer and flintknaping jamboree, told me about this place so I wanted to join. Just wanted to post this to say hi.

Is it ok if I post a picture of my bow on a tillering stick on this thread or just show a picture of it strung? It might take a while to figure out how but Il figure it out, I already have a photobucket album so if I have to have that Im already prepared. Thanks

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I just took a picture of my bow braced but not in a grove on my tillering board. One thing i see about it is that its bending a lot at the ends and not much at midlimb or closer to the handle. Heres the picture:
Admins, I dont know how to resize pictures so if I am supose to resize it I am sorry I dont know how to. If I am supose to then I will find out how to and fix it.
Thanks for any advice and also thanks for the welcomes.

Cameron, welcome aboard! I have not made a board bow yet , but I always try to get the whole limb moving before trying to brace it. I would leave the outer thirds alone and work on the middle and inner thirds. Check how they are bending by floor tiller until you see all the wood working. When you first brace your bow start with a low brace height, say about 2". Might try putting this on a different post so folks know you are making a bow and would like help, and more guys will chime in with their opinions....Good Luck...Terry
