Thin string serving technique?

I just got done building an 8 strand fastflight plus string for my Hill bow.  I padded the loops with 8 strands of B-50 dacron.  The string came out very well if I do say so myself.

My question is how do you thin string experts build up the serving area?  I kind of just stuck six strands of B-50 to the serving area and then served over it.  It came out acceptably but there must be a better way that will give a decent diameter to the serving area for the arrow nock.  

Looking for suggestions.  Thanks!

I serve another layer over the first serving.I have also built up the string with wraps of dental floss

I lay additional strands of string material and then serve over them.

for 8 strand D97 I double serve, first with .018 diamondback then .021 62xs braid. Serve in opposite directions.

Just build up the nock point with dental floss.  When you get the fit you want, add a drop or two of super glue.  Rod Jenkins told me this trick--seems to work pretty good for him.

I am another fan of double serving. I have seen strings that had adational strands of B-50 put under the serving but the serving does not come out round. On a 10 strand 8125 or FF string I double serve with two layers of nylon serving and it makes the diamter perfect for most of the carbon arrow nocks made today.

Well, I have done it both ways, but prefer to put extra strand underneath. Never had a problem, like Bear, Steve mentions.

Either by hand or machine, never a problem with the roundness of serving. If you lay the strands out, work them over with some leather then serve.
If you need alittle help, use a pair of Hemastats or clothes pins to hold the ends while serving.

You can also mark the area where serving, unstring the bow, and lay the strands in the string, then restring, and serve.
