Lol, have you heard about Bob Perkins aka AtlatlBob?
Think he said that mans downfall started with the bow and arrow, which followed the Atlatl as primary hunting weapon ^^

All that aside, I would like to try one, they look fun!

Then again, why Atlatl and not (dare I say it) crossbows?

I don't pretend to know where they would fit in. I asked about trying to hunt with one for deer here in Missouri and was told it would be illegal. I made the argument that it was just a stick and string, same materials as my bow..lol They didn't buy it or budge.
Since that conversation I've read where they are now legal for some small game and frogging.

Before the motorcycle incident I enjoyed throwing one for fun. We had a game we played sorta an adult version of long distance lawn darts..lol

God bless,Mudd

PS:I also enjoy my blowgun(5footer) made of a very light wood. That thing would be a squirrel killer if I could hit with it..lol

No, they don't really belong here. Go to PaleoPlanet for atlatl forum.

I was on the Tred Barta forum a couple of years ago and there was a guy who was extremely aggressive about how the Atlat was the only traditional hunting tool and how Tred could never kill anything with it.threw up a challenge and everything. Not saying that everyone is like that about it,But like us they have there beliefs about it.IMO they should have there own site.

Not here, but they are fun. Threw one for the first time at a primitive event last year. Actually hit a target at 25 yards after several tries.
