Anyone know anything about this material and if it makes a good string?  Thanks

Rob DiStefano

i dunno the spex on d75 but i personally wouldn't use any fiber with a strand tensile strength of much less than 100#.

D-75 IS 100% Dyneema...seems to have a bit more creep than D-97 but much the same material.

So is D97 the standard now?  I also like TS-1..is there a difference there also?

Soooo, you wouldn't use the tried and true B50 Dacron?  Interesting.

use dacron for my bowstrings?  no way.  hmpe dyneema is SO much better in every way (well, except cost).

at around 100#/strand, that gives me the ability to use less strands for a lighter, faster, quieter bowstring.  with my bow, the differences 'tween 14 and 8 strands are very noticeable.

I agree, the newer low stretch materials are much better in overall durability.  I don't use dacron unless the bow calls for it.  I just never heard anyone make that kind of statement concerning string material and tensil strength.  Just probing a little deeper.   :biglaugh:

at around 100#/strand, a 14 strand dyneema string has about 1400# tensile strength.  way overkill, for a 55# bow but extremely stretch free.  drop that down to 8 strands and 800# tensile strength and i'm still above my usual 12x the bow's holding weight per string tensile strength formula.

50# bow x 12 = 600# tensile strength minimum.

therefore, 12 strands of 50# dacron, or 6 strands of 100# dyneema - both equate to 600# of tensile strength.  df'97 dyneema and b50 dacron are about the same diameter and weight, so which will be the lighter, faster and quieter bowstring?  :)

Never heard of it but sounds cool.      If it's anything like D-97 you only have everything to gain.   ;)
Just one more step please!

Some dude with a stick and string chasing things.
