Custom made Fur silencers! These things are S-Weeet!
« on: February 02, 2010, 06:23:00 PM »
These are made from the exotic european polarbear   :biglaugh:  , or some might call it the downright southern possum   :jumper:  , I am a trapper, not a good one, but I do trap, and normally folks around here will catch about 2 possums every other coon, lol.  So I caught myself a possum last year, and being the home tanner I am wont let anything go to waste!(the meat looked great), so I tanned it.

FYI, that tiny peice of leather that alot of you guys like as your grip probably takes as much time to tan as the bow takes to make!  Not really but tanning is a ton of work!  But in this case, these bad boys have created the absolute quietest shot from a bow that I have ever heard!

They look cool, but do you worry about a whitetail seeing them and being alarmed.

well that is my thought, and why I havent put them on my "main" bow, I will probably use them on my "main bow" and dye them brown using the black walnut juice I use to dye my traps?  That might make them sticky?  But it is not like I will be wasting a valuable fur!

Surely your joking. A whitetail is not going to see your natural oppossum fur silencers.  Chris don't worry about the dye.  Looks good to me.

Chris, once again I am impressed. Tanner, trapper, traditional archer, crack .22 shot. Not to mention your skills with camera and computer.  Where do you get all that knowledge and skill? My hat is off to this fine young man.

thanks guys, I dont neccesarily think that the deer will be afraid of them.  I am more worried about the hunters  :knothead: , not really that white just clashes with my brown bow, lol

Possum silencers, now that sounds like something a good old southern boy should have come up with. You know, You might be a redneck if you have possum silencers on yer bow string.
Seriously, I like them...a lot.

really? out of all the things a deer could spot, you believe that the silencers would give you away. i don't think for a second that those would pose any problems.... i'd use them without a second thought.
very cool use of the possum
