Favorite hunting setup...down wind of a wallow that's about 20yds away, in amongst some evergreens with the sun at my back! In my hand is a 55#@28" Blacktail recurve. On the shelf is a Surewood Shaft douglas fir arrow, 4-4" RW helical fletchings with a Abowyer Brown Bear head for 600gr. ......I think I can hear a bugle and brush snapping off up the ridge and he's headed this way....  :clapper:
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

well I would have to say 15 yards uphill away from a heavily used deer hiway, with a gentle mist nailin me in the face.  The big boy currently behind a big oak tree about to take one more step.  The grip of my 55# greatree just slightly wet, and the pink feathers on my Beeman ICS bowhunter shafts are slightly damp.  When he steps out I draw back my bow using my sweet bigshot glove with the nylon fingerstalls, no amount of water in the world will effect me!

Release and hear nothin but a gentle twang when the 100 grain stinger goes flyin through the air, and the water mists off the feathers and the beaverballs, on my fast flight string.  When the arrow plumets into the meat right behind the shoulder, I know the 100 grain brass inserts were a good idea, and my 18.54% FOC did its job.

After hikin down 500 feet to the valley I drag that whitetail that god has so generously given to me back to camp, pass under the rebel flag and kick back and shoot the bull with dad . . .

opps overboard, o well, that is about as perfect as it can get!!!

Depends on what I'm after...

Deer, black bear:

Morrison Shawnee, 62", 60# - 65# w/carbon foam Dakotas, Goldtips and Silver Flame DS.  Also have a MOAB that falls in this catagory, 58", 60#...

Bigger critters, Hogs, Elk, Moose, and the like:

Morrison Cougar, 60", 70# - 75#, Goldtips and 200 grain weighted broadheads... Snuffer 160, Woodsman, Razorcap, also have some '57 vintage "Hi-Precision" 3-blades... Or 250 grain weighted Magnus 1 or Pearson Deadhead wide...  Also have a MOAB on the way that will fall in this catagory, 60", 70#...

Small game, Turkey, or late season deer:

Morrison Cougar, or Shawnee Arapaho, 55# +/-, Goldtips and Silver Flame XL, or Magnus 1...

Love them all!  ;)

usually a 68" 52# @ 27" straight limbed bow , flinging tapered cedars or Fir shafts tipped with Ribtek or Hill broadheads that sit alongside half a dozen blunt tipped of the same all with 5 1/2" feathers in a back quiver . My set up pretty much remains the same whether it be rabbits , Sambar deer , feral pigs or pine cones . stalking, walking and stumping with this set up has helped take 19 pigs in the past 6 years as well as numerous goats and rabbits . Where its most success has come from is in giving me the freedom to stump and walk or stalk and hunt , the same  set up that lets me play Robin Hood or Bob Swinehart and John Schulz all in the same outing ... lol !!!
