good enough for huntin (a test)
« on: February 03, 2010, 01:41:00 PM »
I have read alot about bow poundage and shot placment, foc, efoc, arrow flight, yada yada yada. What this thread is a place to prove it. I'm from missouri so I want you to show me.  I want a picture of a three shot group from 15 yards. ( the distance I most see in these just keep your shots close topics) I went out took three warm ups to get my muscles movin. Same thing I do before I hunt. Then I went to fifteen yards and shot three arrows. Not the best, but I'll take it everyday. What I want people to get from this is an idea of how they shoot compared to others. Maybe it is time to rethink our practicing regimn, maybe not. Either way, take the challenge, be truthful, and lets see what ya got!

Just look at my avatar they were from 20yrds do I still need to do 15yrds.But I shoot every day at least 2-dozen it's been my habit since I started(even when I did the wheels)and I love to improve my shooting always.I shoot 30yrd 3"groups when I am relaxed and in the zone. But backyard shooten and Hunten shooten are two different animals. IMO

that is what I want at twenty yards. I shoot everyday... Most of the time. Great shootin, that should kill whatever you hunt.

you guys are missing the point. I don't want to see all your old pics. I mean right now. Go shoot six arrows. Three to warm up and three for the pic. Anyone can take a pic of theor best groups after practicing. I want a three shot hunting group. Not something from six months ago.

You can warm up before you hunt, but can you stay warmed up all day on a long hunt?  How about three cold shot with the first arrow really the only one that counts?

alright, my bad, that picture is about 20 mins old now!  And that was my warm up  ;) , they are most definatly easy to see!  I could launch it into the middle of the woods blindfolded and still find it, especially when there is snow, they kinda glow!

I thought about that one shot thing, but it is hard to convey my meaning online. I wanted it to be as simple, plus anyone can get lucky once. I want consistancy, not a hope and pray thing. I think any respectable archer should be able to have at least a five inch groups at fifteen yards. It doesn't even take that much practice to achieve this minimum either. Jmo though

I think thats kind of a 'different' statement..

I can't group very good, but I'm a great shot when stumping.. I've killed my fare share of critters with a bow too.

Good shooting to you though...

I guess I'm just lucky...

I'll take that over being good any day of the week and twice on Sunday..

3 to warm up but then 3 for the pic?  and there supposed to be a hunting group?  When did the deer start letting you have 3 warm up arrows?
