DIY feather grinding

I just looked through the "HOW TO" forum looking for a simple DIY tutorial on feather grinding. I just acquired a bunch of goose feathers and would like to turn them into fletching. Can anyone help?

bill, I am getting really good feathers from mine with just a knife a  clamp and a piece of sand paper. All right wing of course

Bill, I put a sanding disc on my 10" table saw that is raised all the way up.. Put split feather in a straight fletching clamp that I attached to a 1x4. Then just push the feather towards the disc. Use the part that is spinning down as opposed to up. I suppose I could've got fancy and put depth stops to keep me from sanding the whole quill off, but it's easy to see when to stop by looking at it. Sorry, no pictures.

goose feathers are easy to turn into superb fletches.  here's my pictorial how-to, from gathered feathers to stripping, grinding and fletched on arrows ...

I have been grinding for past 15 years plus. I have made my own jigs from modified blizenburger straight clamps to shims of wood...........But without a doubt IMO the Feathergrinder by GreatNorthern Quiver company Rick shepard makes is way over the top. SUPER fast and accurate..I just bought mine at K-Zoo. it's worth $125 if you already have a drill press..Neatest little box invention..check it out
