Who all makes alum ILF bows?
« on: February 08, 2010, 10:31:00 AM »
Starting to window shop ILFs, and clearly a 17" alum riser is what I need.  In accordance with the Fairness In Trad Buying Act, I want to give all due consideration.

So far I've looked at the 3R Dahlaa, Trad Tech Titan, and Sky's 17" offering.  Anyone in the alum ILF field I'm missing?

Samick, Spigarelli, Hoyt, Win&Win, PSE,
Bernadelli(sp?).  What richbat said -- Lancaster Archery.  A dizzying list of risers and limbs.

Morrison just brought out a couple... but shorter than you're wanting... I think your list covers the 17" market pretty well...

To my knowledge if you want 17" ILF riser, the only folks that make them is TradTech and Sky.

As far as I know, the only two 17" ILF risers are the Titan and the Sky.

Also the 3R Dalaa. 19" would work too, as long as it makes a 60" bow.  Really don't want to go shorter than 17" or longer than 19"...

Sorry, I thought you meant only "ILF" risers.  The 17" Dalaa won't accept an ILF limb without modification, that's why I didn't mention it.   3R does make a 21" Dalaa with the ILF connection.

Thanks, I didn't know that.  Looks like the Dalaa
gets dropped from the short list...

The modification is pressing out the fitting in your limbs and pressing in the DAS fitting.  Takes 30 seconds if your slow.  LOL

You will be hard pressed to find a better riser for the money then the Dalaa.

And thanks for that info, Mike. Dalla is back on.
Glad it is, I like the looks of the Dalaa...

Morrison has a 16" coming out soon.  One quick side question about the Dalaa. If the mod is so quick, can you use the same bushings on all your limbs or do you need to buy a set of bushings for each pair of limbs?

It's easy but I wouldn't do it.  If you press them in and out too many times the hole gets loose.

I have a 17" Dalaa buy want a 17" Sky simply because I also fool around with 25" ILF target risers.I want to be able to use all my target limbs without changing out bushings.Changing bushings is easy but not if you want to switch limbs back and forth.

I don't know this for sure but I have read elsewhere that although the swap is easy, there could be warranty issues with some limb companies.

Makes sense with he way liability is these days but does anyone know this for sure?

If it were me, and I decided on the Dalaa, I would just use their limbs.  If I wanted the ability to swap limbs of different makers, I would get an ILF riser.

I guess a good one to ask would be Wingnut, seeing that he makes them.  If I bought a set of limbs from you and and I switched the bushing myself and then had problems such as the limb butt delaminating, would you replace them?

While wingnut is correct that the changing of the bushings is a simple thing he failed to mention, that in some cases you may have to grind the ends off the limb butts to fit the Dalaa riser, unless of course you only use Dalaa limbs.
