String leech vs Whiskers vs Hush puppy

What is the skinny on these? I only used a yarn puffball for one year waaay back when with a compound bow. After that it has been cat whiskers ever since. They don't mind water and they seem to work well. I'd like to get rid of the sound of the whiskers hitting eachother. When I trim them to keep the strands from flopping around on eachother the sound of the bow grows louder. I have moved em up and down the string in just about every way imagineable over the years. They just seem to work better the longer they are. SOOooo, I'm thinking about something else. I've heard the SUPER leeches hold up pretty good. I guess the first ones "not super" cut thru pretty fast. I'd like to go with a more "natural" silencer like Hush puppies. My experience is that yarn balls don't take out the higher pitched buzz like rubber does. Also there is the wet ball consideration. Anyone have actual comparison experience with these products? I'll be shooting a Siegeworks creation GenIII. It's sort of a longbow/horsebow hybrid. Thanks a bunch

I like Super Leeches and use Limbsavers above/below the fades on my recurves.  If I feel like looking Trad, I'll put some puffs in & stick the leeches on close underneath...

Cat wiskers are the biggest robber of speed.  Fur silencers are the best for saving speed (if speed concerns you at all.  I use yarn from walmart that your grandma uses to knit a afgan(sp).  3 dollars a spool but pick a color your really gonna like cause you will never have to buy another for the rest of your life.

I use the string leeches on two of my recurves and love them. They really help take the vibration out of the string. I use 4 per string and so far they work as well if not better than other string silencers. This is just my opinion of course but, they work well for me.

i use hush puppies trimmed down in size.  They work great, and they are sold by one of the sponsors here (    ).  In the rain, i just occassionally pop my string to keep them fluffed up.

My best overall results reducing noice using all the different silencer types over and over again have been Bowhush Hushpuppies and or muskox wool or other types of wool balls.I trim them up up a bit smaller than some guys use.It just produces a softer more muted and or  lower frequency sound than anything else I have tried.I dont personally like the higher frequency sharper tone I get with cat whiskers.I still use them though sometimes.Thier good.I just like wool better for dampening sound and vibration.

The best thing about rubber is it wont absorb water and begger lice and burrs wont stick to them.Thier cheap as well.

For a particularly louder bow I definatly prefer wool.

I like the beaver balls. They look really good and seem to quiet my predator as well as the others.

Buy some wool yarn and wrap it around three fingers about ten times. After that put it in your string and string your bow. Cut the loops and shoot for a while and trim the ball the way you want. Works great.

Love the Super String Leaches. Quieter than most anything I've tried.  Very compact and easy to install.  Very strong. I have used them on skinny 8 strand strings and yet to have one rip into.

I have had great results with super string leeches for my "modern" trad bow and muskrat fur for my "traditional" trad bows.  I use 4 per string at the 1/4 and 1/3 positions.

I never thought I would say this but skinny strings with padded loops are really quiet with minimal silencers

Cannot beat the Hush Puppies. I make my own yarn puffs but they dont work quite as well as Hush Puppies, they are not as thick. I also like to wrap the strings of my recurves where they hit the string lands. That seems to help alot too.

I love the Hush Puppies, they work awesome on all my bows! I just use one half of the Puppies, they work great that way! I tried the leeches and as much as I shoot they didn't last very long, the cat whiskers I never really cared for, so its Hush Puppies all the way!

I agree with Predator man, my skinny strings are easier to quiet.  Best way to silence a bow?  Strap on style bowquiver.

I'm a whiskers guy. I love the hush puppy type silencers but I hunt a lot of wet conditions and don't like to swap strings.

Yes you lose a little bit of speed but not enough to raise a fuss about in my opinion.

I cut my whiskers shorter and only use about 5 strands.

I tried the leeches but they didn't take nearly as much shock out as the whiskers. Maybe its because I only used 2?

I use beaver on one bow and musk ox wool on the other
