MFX classic obsolete
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:47:00 PM »
I talked with an Easton tech guy a couple days ago about the Axis and Beman MFX shafts.  He told me the MFX classics were obsolete - - the new shaft is/will be called Bone Collector. He said it will be the same physical weight as the Axis - - whereas the MFX classic was physically heavier. So, if you want MFX classic you might want to grab them now.

What is up with this Bone Collector... I mean, to me that ideology/image is everything wrong with hunting today!  Yes, we kill.  Yes, we keep horns or mount heads, etc... but this whole "Bone Collector" thing seems like we are serial killers out there 'collecting bones.' Most of us are out there for the experience of being in Nature, for the hunt itself, and for the meat.  We are NOT about killing and "Bone Collector" makes it sound like we are... yet so many weekend warriors just love it... makes me kinda sick...

If anyone questions why there is such a strong Anti-hunting sentiment in America, well, there ya' go...

Man... those classic shafts were nice too...

Sorry for the rant, just couldn't keep quiet on this one.
God Bless,
Erik

Kinda reminds me of the Ted Nugent "Whack 'em and Stack 'em" of years ago. I always thought that was distasteful and projected a poor image for bowhunting, too. But if you watch the outdoor hunting shows on TV now there is too  much emphasis on technology, "success" and competition. Oh yes, and stretchy clothing.

Autumn Orange, Dougherty Naturals, MFX Classics... all my favorites seem to bite the dust.

CRUD   :knothead:    :banghead:

I sure wish they would make the FMJs in a nice footed woodgrain pattern...I'd pay $200 a dozen for those!

Hope they dont discontinue the Easton Axis Full Metal Jackets.  They have the weight like the Classics but seem to me to tune much easier.

My sales rep said the MFX classics did well in sales last year and they added a new spine, 600's.  I've asked him to track down this rumor.

I think they should get rid of the Full metal jackets and keep the MFX classics, they break to easy!

Chris, I disagree with that.  I've not broke one yet and I do a LOT of stump shooting.  Look here:

Chris, I thought the same thing when they first came out with them (black shafts).  The metal on the outside seemed to split very easily upon hard impacts.  The next year they increased the weight per inch for the 400 series shaft. This extra weight must have been in the aluminum.  The new camo and black shafts weigh more and are very tough. Make sure when buying you dont end up with shafts that weigh less than what is advertised on Easton's web site.  If so, they are most likely the original design.  As far as which is stronger, I shoot both FMJ's and Classics.  Can't tell the difference.

When they realize they have made a shaft that is too durable time for it to go away. The CE Terminator Hunter (Buff Tuff) another almost indestructable shaft where did it go??

    Steve O,
I agree if they would make the FMJ's with the Legacy wood grain pattern I would pay a premium price ..... wait a minute they are already a premium price!
