I got a New Bow
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:50:00 AM »
Well I got a new Bow on Friday and slowly getting it ready. I picked up a PSE Kingfisher Bowfishing kit. (I'll post Pix L8R) For right now I have stock string. I ordered a New string and bow stringer, for now I'll find the sweet spot with this string and have it as a back up. I'm using the stick-on rest that came with it. I have hunting arrows that are 55-60/60-65 both w/160grn points that fly great at 10 yards. So I still need to get to a spot to finish tuning it.

Why did I get a PSE Kingfisher for? Well the price was right for a bow I'll use for both land game & Water game. I added some camo mole skin to the handle and over the arrow rest. I tied on a nock just need to add another one. I like 2 nocks ( 1 over, 1 under ).

If anyone else has a kingfisher what brace is it set at? I had to talk to someone from Cabela's to get the brace of 7.25" didn't say if the the low or the high end of the brace.

This is a 60" 50#@28" I'm drawing 27.5"
W/rest I'm -1/16th past center (rest & mole skin) Art-sinew for arrow nocks
cat whiskers for stock string
Bow Puppies for new string (Bow hush next pay)

Arrows
Easton GameGetters 2117 28.25"BOP
point weight 235grn (160grn Point + 75grn adaptor)
26grn insert
11grn nocks
4" nanas Pink
Dynamic Spine Calculated
Arrow 58.3#
Bow  60.4# (recurve, 50#, 28", 27.5", -1/16, B-50)

Arrow Outputs
Total Weight (grains)617
Specific Weight (GPP) 12.2
F.O.C. (%) 19.8
Speed (FPS) 163.9
Energy (ft-lbs) 36.7

I've got a friend at league that shoots one of these and not just for fishing. Seems to be a sweet shooting little bow!

I'll ask him what is BH is set at when I see him!

I bought one for my son to bowfish with.  Got a Zebco 808 with #600 gator wire on it though.  It's tough to beat for the $  If my old yardsale bowfishing bow breaks---I'll get one too.

I have one that is the same #age as yours.  Great for bowfishing, I really like it.  I could not tell you how many times I won the "little fish" contest with it.  That don't sound like much of a goal, but anyone can hit a big fish.  I have shot gars the size of a pencil with it. It puts alot of the Browning Bowfisher users to shame...

I built my shelf out with a couple pieces of leather, I don't like to use a rest.  Quick and easy shooter, gotta love it.

If I lived as far south as you do and I was hunting around water, I'd have to re-think using cottonmouth skins as my backing. That's sounds way too close to their home territory and I'd hate to get surprised to the point it caused me to fall out of the boat into the water...lol

Other wise.. congratulations on what sounds like a decent bow at a decent price.
God bless,Mudd

It has some power. I can't wait till the flemish string gets here so I can bow puppy & Bow Hush it. Next up arrows, then Up to my friends place for some hogs. I also need to get my fishing license, too.
