Okay... What lil LB should I get?
« on: April 21, 2007, 12:37:00 AM »
Yeah, its that time of year... getting bored and wanting to get ready for fall...

I still have some money from my bonus leftover (how my better half missed it, I dunno) and figured since I don't have a LB... I should get me one!!! I am looking @ 60" or less, comfy, and fast would also be a plus...

I am thinking lower weight mostly for stumping, squirels, dillas, rabbits, and jus having fun... but whitetails are lots a fun, so it'll have to be at least in the 40's...

some that look interesting...

Thunderstick MOAB
Black Swan
RER vortex
Shrew Samurai (long wait)

just figured you folks who shoot lots of bows may  point me in the right direction

Thanks

Not a bad one in the bunch. I'm a Swan fan but wouldn't turn down any bow in your list.

I was at a 3D shoot last weekend and shot a 56" Foley LB, fast smooth little bow, just too short for my draw length.

Don't forget a Mike Treadway LB. Mike makes an excellent short LB with all the qualities your looking for and more.
I reckon so

Did you consider Bob Lee? He makes nice recurves and has some short longbows. By the way how short can you go before it is not considered a longbow?   :)

I know that RER has some 40ish Vortex bows in stock right now so there would be no waiting. Give them a call. Like Vermonster said though looks like a fine group to choose from.

Zipper with longbow limbs, Shawnee with dakota limbs, Cari-Bow Silver Fox ( my favorite), Crow Creek Blakfeather, Troy Breeding also makes a great T/D longbow. I just love longbows, I have shot many nice curves and shoot them well also, I just prefer my longbows.

All good bows, you might want to check out Striker Bows.  I have a Stinger on order that fits your specs exactly.  They're purty, have a fwd handle.  They shoot hard and fast.

RER would get my vote, these bows are real sleepers out there. They are very fast, quiet and shoot where ya look. Shawn

thanks follks, i'll have to look into some of the others...

just going on rep on the site for brand names..... I figure a short lil one since I don't like a bow to be as tall as me... I appreciate the input and will look long and hard... before making a decision...

You might want to consider a Horne Brush Bow or a Dryad Bushwacker. Not sure if you have been following the adventures of hope and faith at the top of this forum, but there is a ton of comments and stories on the Brush Bows there.Sweet shooting short bows!

As far as a Bushwacker goes I have never shot one, but have heard nothing but praise of them from anyone who owns or has shot one!

GOOD LUCK! Alot of great bows out there to shoot from. I'm sure the ones you listed are all exceptional bows too!

RER Vortex  56"
Treadway Black Forest  54"
Ancient Spirits Sequoia  58"
I like all three VERY much. Can't complain with the performance on any of them. Sweet shooters. I've also heard nothing but good things about the Thunder Stick Mag. I haven't shot one but if anyone out there has a 56-58"er about 46-50#s PLEASE send it to me and I'll sure shoot it.

Centaur, Jim makes a great short longbow. I have two 56" bows, and they are shooters!
