Apex Predator bow blank
« on: February 18, 2010, 01:58:00 PM »
I had Marty build me a bow blank and he was kind enough to put some pics on the bowyers bench for me to see before he ships it. I think he did a fantastic job and can't wait to get this projct going....check it out on the bowyers bench!!

Ron, just checked out the pics. Marty does a great job. A bow blank is a great way to get introduced to building your own bows.

Good luck with the project and post some pictures when she's done.

Thanks guys!  I actually screwed up building his riser.  :)   I had planned zebra/osage/zebra and had it ready to cut out the fades when I realized I was building a straight bow not an R/D.  I went back and laminated the back piece on to make it flat again.  I think it turned out better than the original plan.  Ron picked all the wooods, I just had to figure out how best to make them flow well.

Great combo for the riser and the limbs look great. She'll be a real looker when you are done.
Have fun,

White Oak, boy am I glade he made that mistake....lol, Marty has a good eye, that's why I told him to use his own judgment on the riser, he did good!!!

Ron, I don't believe you could go wrong with Marty.I have followed his work for quite some time and he is top notch. Not only does he do beautiful work, he is extremely generous when it comes to sharing his methods and helping others. Believe me, I have bugged him plenty.
Enjoy that new bow. I am sure it will turn out super. Please post pics when you get her done.
Take care,
