Best traditional times i ever had when a bunch of us from Ga would go to Jerry's every summer in mid 90's for the Howard Hill World Championships. Jerry ,you had the funniest tournament ever put on. The skunk on the roller coaster and 120 yard elephant were 2 that come to mind..oh turbo turkey and the 120# beaver in the ditch..There has not been a shoot like it since.. i am so glad i got to experence that.......i even got a porcelain elephant one year?!!  welcome

joebuck,
You can't forget Tembo the elephant coming down through the dogwoods either at you, having to shoot then jump out of the way before getting tusked!! Good times for sure !! I sure loved trying to hit that skunk more than once in a row. It even had Hood's # good a shot as he was. Welcome Jerry... hope life's treating you good !

Welcome Jerry!
That Skunk, skunked me several times.  I also skunked the Skunk a couple times.
I remember, very fondly, the time spent on your range.  I was always with friends, even if I didn't know them at the time, they became friends during the shoots.
I went to the last one with my friend, Russ Dickson.  He and his wife are now gone, but I'll always have the memories.
You always treated me with friendship and I want you to know how much it meant to me.
I often got to talk to your dad,I think it was, I really enjoyed the talks.
Hope all is well in your camp.

Hill Junkies Here?

You must be kidding.

There are no Hill Junkies here.

(. . .although I have to admit, there may a few absolutely rabid, die-hard Hill FANATICS.)

The rest of us are, well, just avid Hill freaks. Even our therapists will admit that we're almost normal. . .

Jerry, that shoot was the best there ever was! I never got a trophy (managed 4th twice!), but my son won the youth recurve division and my ex won the lady's selfbow division in the same year. My son, 32 now, still treasures that trophy. We had a blast! It drew the best archers from all over the country.

Stinson taught me how to put my points on so they wouldn't come off the first year I attended, and I've related the technique a couple of times for people here.

Never did score on that blasted skunk...

Welcome Jerry. We have a lot of Howard Hill wantabes here. I think of Hill, Bear, Pearson, Hood, and Ishi as the big five of traditional archery. (With me it would be big six.) It's a great site and know you will enjoy it.

Hey Jerry remember this?.... the night before the Longbow Championship shoot in 1980.

Great picture. It's weird that I don't really know what Jerry looks like. This is only the second pic that I have seen of him. Thank you Mr. Ron for that picture. Where was this taken?

Thanks,
Joshua
