When is a longbow too long

Ok so I'm on the short side and I have a chance of picking up a 68 inch longbow, will that be too long for me. Most of my longbows are no longer than 62 inches. So how many shorties shoot a 68er.

After trying them all,I like the longer bows. They're more forgiving, easier to shoot well than shorter longbows.

i prefer the oxymoron of 'short longbows' simply for the maneuverability factor. even with my 29"+ draw i have no issues with shooting my 62" longbows.
i could never deal with a 68" longbow and a tree stand - to me, that would be frustrating at best. even still, i prefer ground stalking and 'sit & wait' kinda hunting, and the 'shorter longbow' just makes it easier ... for me.

I use 66" longbows and they are no big deal, on the ground or in a tree.

I own 4 longbows they are all 62". I have had some shorter and some longer but out of 11 longbows over the years these are the ones I still have. They also are of the heavy R&D design.

The first thing to do is take your tapemeasure out to the cab of your pickup. You dont want the window down in Jan.

As I found out this year, that would be a 74" longbow in a 68" blind... :p

I made and used a long bow that is 72" tip 2 tip / 70" N2N. I've used in a tree stand and on the ground, I got some PVC to make a carrier for it to mount in the bed of my pick-up.

I'm 5'8" and prefer 68" LONGbows. No problems at all.

Well how tall are you that you are worried about 34" sticking down from shoulder height when you shoot? I would think over 4' tall you could hold it out to shoot it and not hit the ground. I would be more worried about transporting it. I can get a 62" max across the back seat of the truck unstrung. That is my limit. I had a 66", but it was a pain to carry anyway but the back of the truck.

With 68 or longer I get body contact with the string when I am sitting and leaning forward.

I am 5' 10" , draw 27" and prefer 66" and 68" longbows . sold all my others .
i even prefer longer recurves . i ground hunt and so have no experience shooting form stands , but i am so use to them they length never bothers me .

I prefer 70" longbows. I'm 5'11" and draw 29". But I don't hunt in treestands, and if I was to sit in my blind down in the desert, I'd use a recurve. But for stalking pigs up here, I find the 70" to be heaps more forgiving than my 66" longbow (I'm talking about Hills).

For a traditional glass-laminated longbow (not R&D) the general recommended length for a 28" draw is 68", for each inch in draw length add or subtract 2". That would suggest a 66" LB for 27"; 64" LB for 26" draw.

I like shooting longer bows (64-66"+), i like hunting with bows that are a bit shorter (60-62").
For me in these thick woods of Alabama, a shorter bow is alot easier to move/stalk with, as well as a tad easier to shoot in "odd" positions.
