I can't.  I have been shooting a compound since I was 9 (23 now) and just bought a longbow so I can add some fun back to the hunt.  I think of how much better I would be if I started 3 years ago like wanted to!

I've shot a compound a few times but have never hunted with one.

....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

I shot a compound for a few years in the early 70s, but for the 20 years before that and the more than 30 years since, I've been shooting sticks.

Never have shot or owned one.  Instruct a little using a Genesis but that's as close as I've come.  63 now and started in early grade school.

Not me,I've shot them on an off "but the cost finaly put me off,,,,for now.

Funny thing about "never",,,I belong to a motorcycle club an we used to have a young member who would often state that he would "never" drive a car,,or any other @&%#
4wheeled ect ect.
Then he noticed he was being left out of a few things,,,an got a little pissed about it.
When he finaly asked why,he was told that since he "can't" drive a car,he was of little use in an emergency situation,he couldn't drive the run truck which everybody is required to do now an then, and as a result a few of the boys felt he couldn't be relied on,or was just bucking a job nobody wanted to do.
Eventualy he got the boot,an last time I saw him he was selling used cars.
"Never" is a very longtime.
Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.

I think I,ve fired about two dozen shots from one in my lifetime. The funny thing is half of those were through a compound that I bought,It was cheeper than any traditional bow that I could find.So I bought it and a dozen aluminums.pulled three arrows out for practice, shot it twelve times, put everything back in the boxes and went to the library to try to find info on carving a selfbow.Gave it to my brother.I have tried a couple others and let wheelers try my stickbows since then.
One of my buds actually gave up his wheels and is a trad archer now too.

Recurves are as "modern" as I've ever gotten. Started with a longbow. No disrespect toward compound archers, but that design just never inspired me. And still doesn't.

I think I have done in my life, most of the things I said I'd never do.Its a jinx,so I dont say never about things I really dont want to do-instead,I say"I'll never be a millionair",or "I'll never be able to take my bud on an Alaskan hunt".That way if I jinx myself its O.k. by me.

IMO. i think that the archery world is evolving in a way that puts a sour taste in my mouth. much of it coming from the hunters on TV.shooting elk at 70 yards with a bow is so freaking wrong in my book.( the whole shoot 8 deer a year and give the meat to charity haha right! do the horns go there also???) Sorry to be so nagitive but im so passionate about the sport. oh and by no means do i think ALL compound hunters are to blame.

Agreed!!! But, if you're mad everytime some moron gets stupid, you'll just walk around mad all the time. Lead by example. You're the better man.

I’ve shot only “trad” bows since before they acquired the title. First bow was at 9 or 10 and I am now 62…bows started at 10# +/- to 84# at the high end.  Have yet to need any auxiliary assistance with shooting my bows…life is good. Rick.
