WY Elk Draw
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:58:00 PM »
Tomorrow is the big day. Good luck to all of the traditional bowhunters applying. I hope we draw all the tags and get to see and hear awesome elk stories from all of the guys here on Tradgang! The draw in WY always gets me boiling. Five years of applying, I am packed and ready to go 6 months in advance. Every stump session with my recurve is a bedded elk, standing elk, feeding elk, a darn elk. Some in the last 7 years have been smartELKics in Colorado...they get a arrow too!

I may not draw WY and that'd be ok. I have lots of plan Bs and they contain elk, my recurve, hypoxia, lactic acid accumulation in my major muscle groups, and hopefully going in light and coming out heavy. Colorado application deadline is coming up my friends so don't forget...

Don't have to put in for awhile yet but I hope I draw this year. Haven't drawn my preferred area in...must be 4, maybe 5 years.      :banghead:

Good luck.

Kuma you needed to apply for WY by Jan 31st. Colorado is May 15th I believe so you have time. Do the DNR website thing and go from there...

Come on lucky numbers. I don't mind my plan B: stalking antelope, mule deer, and cow elk in the same unit I am hoping to draw a bull tag in but I sure would love a bull tag for unit 7!!!

Congrats Joe!

I swung and missed.  Odds report shows I had a 56% chance at the unit I went for so not my lucky day.  Same unit last year was 79%....thanks Huntin Fool!

I considered burning the points on that type 9 unit 38 tag.  Kind of glad I'm not competing with Mr. Elk vacuum for those bulls this year as I know how that might turn out.  Would have loved the campfire time, though.

I'll take a swing at NM and then it will be on to OTC CO if I strike out there.

Hope others got what they wished for.  Looking forward to the WY threads at the end of Sep.

Congrats Mike and Joe...I am JEALOUS! I didn't pick up a unit 7 tag, just another pref point to go with the 4 I already have. I'll take the point and put in for the antelope, mule deer draw and pick up a leftover cow tag. Now go and kill some animals and post the stories for us here at Tradgang!

Congratulations Vance, and the other lucky bowhunters!  I had to sit out this year, but hope to be back in the WY game next year!

Howdy Vance. Don't know anything about 38....I'll see if I can do some nosing around. I hunted 41/42, I think it was, about 10 years ago. Saw alot of elk.

I tend to stay closer to home any more. I don't know if it's too far to drive or not enough grizzlies.   :readit:    :knothead:    :biglaugh:
