Turkey hint for you Michigan folks...
« on: April 21, 2007, 11:55:00 PM »
Took the kids to Port Huron/Lexington today for a nice day by the water...

Saw a LOT of turkeys right off of I-69 in the hottest part of the day (2-3pm), and many were near, at, or headed toward the small little homestead and farm ponds that dot the sides of the highway...most from Davison/Lapeer heading east towards the coastline...

Most were alone, or in groups of 2-3, and many of those were toms...even saw 2 in semi-strut or full strut poses...the kids thought it was funny!

Take Care,
Marc

Marc, I know what you mean.  It seams like I can't drive anyplace without seeing birds in the farm fields.  Man I cant wait for the season to start.

Yeah buddy,,Mine start tomorrow.. When its hot I love gettin by the nerrest water source in the area and eather waiting them out or doing some callin.. I did some last min. scouting yesterday and found the promise zone of the land I'm hunting. This spot is loaded with strutin marks for about 60 feet and is on top of a little ridge. Awsome struttin zone,, I know where there roostin where there zone is,,I know where there gettin there water and there food. All I have to do is get one close enogh to take a good shot now..

I can't wait to hunt with Steve and Tim on steves land, I'll be huntin with Eric on my first weekend on the clubs property.. I don't think I've ever shared so much turkey time with good freinds and I'm really excited about this season already,, Even if I don't tag a bird the thought of sharing a fire with Eric at turkey camp,,and sharing a fire with Steve and Tim in Dannsville is worth every mile to drive, 3:30 am mornings, puffy eyes that need a good shower and cofee.. Can't wait fellas lookin forward to it all,, Good luck to all the other hunters that are huntin now or have a season comming up,,Good luck to all and God bless... Jason B.   :campfire:
