california hunting??
« on: February 22, 2010, 11:01:00 PM »
well im going to be visiting huntington beach in may. my father in law just moved out there for his job, for the next year, and we will be staying with him for a week or so. my questions are- is there any good hog hunting close by? or is there any good archery shops around to visit? and lastly, im a diehard predator hunter, so is there any place to call up some yotes and shotgun'em?

thanks guys

You may want to try Tejon Ranch. There is a archery pig hunt the first or second weekend of may. An unguided archery is 300$

FSDiscount has some trad stuff but it is really a store front for it's mail order business. Not a real archery shop.

Tejon is a treat if you can do it.  If you hunt hogs in the south you will think you are chasing a different critter.  The country is as purty as anywhere in the world and the hogs are everywhere, next to elk, deer, turkeys, etc...

The desert is good for predators.  I'd do a search on predator or CA hunting forums and see what comes up in the area.

Good luck.

The INS is $13 for liability when on the ranch, and lasts a year.

The license and tag will put you at about $200 as the CA DFG is real proud of these invasive critters.

Shoot me an email and I will try and dig up some pics.

I moved out here from GA and my dad and I went there unguided and had an epic weekend.  Torrential downpours, white out snow, snow chains and mud two inches thick on the roof of my truck, but a hunting adventure for sure.

Otherwise maybe someone down a bit further south can help with the yotes there.

Good luck.

Cost: around 145$ for out of state lic. 66$ for hog tag, Both of these can be purchased at Tejon Ranch the day of hunt. 300$ for unguided hunt and 13$ for insruance.

They have a place for you to camp. Tent, trailer or under the stars. They also have cabins for rent, prices very on these.
