It brings me great sadness on one hand to inform the traditional brothers from Ga, Al,Tn, SC and neighboring states that Mickey Wilson "Redhawk" has passed away in Gainsville Ga today after some illness matters. But on the other hand i feel a tremedous joy in being priviledge in having the honor in knowing this Ga gentleman for many years. Mickey was the foundation for the Traditional Bowhunters of Ga and the pillar and founder of the North Ga Archers. Mickey loved to shoot his bow and hunt but his passion was getting the young kids involved through his North Ga Club and what an impact he made with this. Redhawk was also one of the first recipients of the Traditional Bowhunters of Ga "Sinew Award" given annually to the person who has made a difference in the sport of traditonal archery and bowhunting through their unselfess endeavors. Mickey had a booming voice and tremendous smile that won you over instantly. I worked in great length with Mickey when i was an officer with TBG and it was nothing but an honor to watch him work his magic on getting things done and handling tough sitations sometimes with some tough people. As a young 30 year old then and even as little as 2 weeks ago when i last spoke to him, i also listened to redhawk as that of a student. He was a class act that gave 100x back to the traditional community. His Traditional archery bill is cuurent!! I look forward to going to heaven and hopefully shooting another round of targets with Mickey and hear his kind voice and feel his positive energy and i still will be the student of life in his class. It's not hard to think of certain people when the name "traditional Bowhunter" pops up. I assure you Mickey "Redhawk" Wilson pops up in my mind. He touched so many kids and adults lives with his involvement through archery to justify that. Trophies fade away but people giving back to people however never does fade or die. Mickey's arrows will fly forever because He shot alot of them and all for the right reasons. Thank you Redhawk!
