Just a couple of quick questions.

1. Do you glue fletching on with Duco?

2. How many coats?

3. Any special way to apply?

thanks, first time using this product.

I have used Helmsman Spar for a while now and have been satisfied.

Yes, I use Duco and have had very little failure.  Usually the feather base breaks and not the glue.

I apply 5 or six coats....

...using a Pro Dipper and a Gasket cap.

This has worked well for me for closed grained woods like maple and open grained woods like ash.  Has worked well on POC also.  I usually apply over an alcohol stain.  Have never tried it over cap dip and cresting paints.

Good luck with it.  Duane

Helmsman Spar with dip tube and gasket, 3-4 coats, Duco.  I crest some using Testors model paint.  It will run if you don't spray over it before dipping.  I stain my arrows with Tandy's Pro Leather Dye.

Using the gasket is very important. I made some without it and the arrows didn't fully dry till about 2 months later! I like at least 4 coats. Ducco works great for me....Terry

I stain with minwax oil base, let dry overnight, 1 coat of hellmans, let dry over night, sand lightly, one more coat of hellmans , let dry overnight, sand lightly .... fletch with fletch tape, works like a charm... I just use a brush or small sponge brush to coat the shaft w/light even coats..use ducco on my nocks...I could see if you put real heavy uneven coats on how it may not dry.. make sure they are light and even...

Sweet!!  I ran a post asking if you could use Spar and the dip/gasket system.  Looks like it's a go.  Thanks all......From the Desert
