Round Two

The title is still safe...... For now anyway..  I  did make some progress however.
The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

Ever have on e of those days where you would forget your head if it were not attached? Well I had one yesterday. I walked out without my boots my hat or my camera. It was a miracle I remembered my bow!!!!

As a result there won't be a lot of pics in this thread, which is a shame because the blood trails were both educational.

I went to the same stand I was in 2 weeks ago. The feeder went off and nothing was happening so I got down and went to another one that I knew had not gone off yet. Before I got anywhere close I could hear the squealing. The wind was howling so I could get away with a lot. I was about 30 yards out when the feeder went off. I was able to cut the distance another 10 yards. There were 2 sows and 7 pigs about 20 lbs apiece. The sows were both dry.

I made it another 5 yards and then waited for a shot.

They finally got settled and I drilled the smaller sow.

Within 30 seconds the remaining hogs were back at the feeder. I had one small window to shoot through and hit a branch. I got lucky and hit the femoral artery. The sow turned around and I could see blood spurting out both sides.

You can see the hole in her ham...

I'm envious. Don't have that kind of hunting round here. Guess I should be careful what I wish for. Guess those critters can be a real nuisance.

Nice job!

I just had fresh backstraps in the slow cooker last night.  I wish my hunting spot was a little closer.  That 16-18 hour drive from MN to TX is a killer.
