The Hermit stand was my favorite stand last March.

Many, many Javelina opportunities at this stand. I even chased a couple down around the front ridge one evening.  Shot right over his back while he trotted by... Fun and more fun...

Did Kent take you up to the "shaft" dump?

John3, The shaft dump was where my brother was sitting.  Some javis were denning in one of the old mine shafts.  It was in the rocks, just to the north of the mines that we cornered the one in a den and got it with the group effort.  Kent could not figure out where the ones that had been at the Hermit stand had gone.  Never saw a single one there all week.  Maybe they were denned up having babies?  We never found the numbers they had in the past and we did do a lot of hiking and looking.

Great story and great pics! Javi hunting is great fun for any who haven't tried it yet. I will say that the potential for running into "illegals" is a real possibility when hunting them. When down in TX we always have a cell phone with us and have the Border Patrol on speed dial too!

kent has a good spot down there my favorite spot was the "horse feeder" spot at the base of the mountain, I shot two javies within 20 seconds on the first afternoon hunt.

We shoot a bunch of javelina's every winter.  Try mixing the meat 50/50 with regular ground pork.  Then use a sausage spicing of your choice.  We usually make a breakfast and german sausage.  Wow they are really great.  Eating straight javelina can be pretty strong.  Mixing also makes the sausage go further.

The hunt cost $420 for a 5 day hunt.  That meat was very strong.  We will try mixing it with something and spicing it up next time.
